Nvidia DSR and DCS

Recommended Posts

so i can run this game in nvidia surround or single screen nvidia 3d and locked out at 60 fps most of the time and have 98 percent gpu usage with my sli 770's. Anybody else having horrible gpu usage with dsr and sli with this game? Trying all sorts of tricks to fix it but no success yet. My frame rate is horrible as the cards are only being used up to maybe 55 60 percent....... Odd

It does look gorgeous though

I took a quick look on another machine (with a 660ti-2GB in it) and I can't see any reason why Geforce Experience should be needed. The Nvidia Control panel is all that you need access to.

My earlier statement was based on an article I had read which left me with an, I believe, incorrect assumption. I won't bother uninstalling Geforce Experience just to test it.

A quick look at a couple of non-flying games at 4k looked good, but that machine has a 27" 1440p monitor so it is fairly sharp already. Although it looked good, I think the effect will be more impressive on a 1080p monitor (like my 42" flying display), and a more powerful, with more VRAM, video card might make a difference as well.

.

the Geforce Experience is just there so nvidia can shill their crappy proprietary software that no one cares about, same reason they did it for the shadow play stuff...

As I understand, the GeForce experience software integrates DSR functionality in case you want to apply those settings automatically

Hmm, I just tried that with my 660ti (having the options after driver update without installing GeForce experience) and I see no difference in the game at all when DSR is turned on or off, neither quality or performance wise. :-(

The only difference I have is that after updating the drivers everything on my PC looks somehow shitty, can´t even exactly explain how, but the settings are the same as before. Hmm, "never touch a running system", should have remembered that lol.

edit:

I was was just beeing stupid, of course I have to actually change the resolution then and not just enable it. Made the UI all messed up and hard to read. Game was much slower but honestly couldn´t say it was better.

ED could add this as an in game feature, since DSR is the same thing as supersampling, downsampling or FSAA. Just add an option like in Arma 3 and Battlefield 4 to increase the rendering resolution.

Also, any of you here that play Cliffs of Dover, it should resolve the antialiasing problems that game has.

DSR works great in dcs, looks much better, native res 1920x1200, but running at 2715x1527 especially with spotting ground targets, but i lowered the smoothing by like 4%, might just be my monitor.

The effect is much less pronounced on a 1440p display, from what I have observed.

If you guys aren't seeing any difference then either something is wrong or your vision is poor and won't help anyway lol.

But on a serious note it depends on your quality of display, I can tell you on a 55 inch 1080p tv it works very well, I just get crap gpu utilization and performance hence why I'll stick to 3d

I like such ideas! thumbup.gif Just to have these options ingame. Keep it simple!

it´s not new to use this downsampling. I remember we use it in Cliffs of Dover too since years with some changes in game.ini file.

but thx for the input, i forgot this all.

Loaded newest driver and did play a bit with settings:

best solution for me is max sampling from 3840x2160 to half which is native 1920x1080.

smoothness is 0% .

dots are a bit earlier to see when looking against sky and streets. But over green its near the same as before, imho.

It´s pretty hard to find dots at long angle against ground which i find is one of the reason why i loose so often the spot of my enemy in DCS.

I noticed over green that the P51 Dot is about 2 mousewheel clicks later to see as the Dora´s. In air it´s no difference.

But someone else has to test this again...havent so much time and i´m old :pilotfly:but remember long discusssions in IL2 threads about this dot visibilty ranges :music_whistling:

Well I updated to 2.1.3 but I get no option to switch between on or off in DSR Factors (DSR smoothness is also disabled). Is there something else I need to change in Control Panel?

First of all, thank you for raising awareness about this new feature.

Without you guys I might not pay enough attention to this fantastique feature.

So, I am running on a 42" Panasonic Full HD plasma TV with two SLI enabled 770GTX 4Gb... and:

- 4K is playable in decent conditions (all settings maxed) - around 30 FPS but with some stutterings

- 2560x1440 : just perfect... same around 30 FPS but no stuttering at all, all movements very fluid.

But what was best, no shimmering at all... nothing... all images are just great, all panels are able to be seen crystal clear. That's absolutely great feature, no matter how it is called !

Oh, DSR SMoothness.. default 33% !
