I understand it should be sending its signal to the satellite, but does it also emit a sound used later for ADF navigation (which, sadly, is not functional for A10C)? I am asking, because I want to use the "transmit message" for specific zone that would emulate PLB in CSAR mission. Does anyone know what is the sound? A morse code? A repeated beep? Aginor Posted June 24, 2014 Share Posted June 24, 2014 If I am not mistaken the beacon emits a loud beeping sound on the guard channel. Or at least it used to. I read about it in "When Thunder Rolled" by Ed Rasimus and/or "Thud Ridge" by Jack Broughton. The Author describes the sound. Those are Vietnam era though, so that might not be accurate for today. baltic_dragon Posted June 24, 2014 Author Share Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks, I guess it would be quite accurate for the suite we have modeled in DCS - again, pity that ADF is not implemented at all. ADF works - but just not for every radio in every aircraft that would allow it in RL to be used for ADF. The sad thing is, there is no single frequency that would work for every aircraft. So you will have to know which aircraft the player will be flying to be able to choose a viable frequency for ADF.
