Best and Worst Looking Cockpits

I personally love how neat, tidy and somewhat minimalist look of the the Eurofighter's cockpit. It's pleasing to look at, all the buttons are well seperated and are easily identifiable by the shape and colors, and I can appreciate the amount of LCD screens as a geek. I do also like not having any buttons on top of the MFD's as well, 20 seems overkill for me and they take up possible screen space.

I'd say the F-16 has the nicest canopy since there aren't really any obstructions to be found. The FW-190 is my favorite warbird cockpit, the ergonomic design almost makes it look like a predecessor to modern cockpits.

I'm afraid I have to nominate the MiG-23 for the worst, it just looks like a goddamn mess and I'll never appreciate that sickly turquoise color, regardless of whether it can calm the pilot or not.

What about you?

Nicest cockpits in my opinion, F-15E and F-117A:

I like the F-15E cockpit because it's a nice blend of displays and analog gauges, and they are laid out pretty well. Same goes for the F-117A. And they are squared, another plus for me :)

Ugliest cockpit, MIG-21:

That layout and old submarine look aren't really something that fit my taste. Looks kinda messy and confusing.

That color of the Russian planes is always terrible ... looks like a bathroom style from the 60ies...

But Russians have never had a sense for beauty and design, only just functional, brute and nearly indestructible heavy-duty structures.

So you're comparing 70s tech to modern tech.....?

General 3D modeling thread and reference sites

UK liveries for planes, ships and MODS.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Favourite pit: Probably the F-16. Force feedback sidestick, and tilted seat to increase pilot comfort and allow for more G load.

Lease favourite: Cessena 152 because from personal experience, this cockpit is a really tight fit!

Is that forbidden? :)

No, but 12 megapixel images are, at the very least, discouraged.

Let me rephrase you: "At the very HIGHT discouraged", becouse there is no rule against it on these forums.

Most of the people voting their "worst" have no sense of charm. :P

Nevertheless, who'd have thought that I'd be posting this for my ugliest.

F-35 (I personally wouldn't like to use an iPad-type cockpit as much but still, it looks good.)

After flying BMS for so long, I kinda got used to the Joystick offset. And now I fly all of sims that way. Looking at the F-22, if we ever get a model, at least I can reuse my Cougar MFD's... ;)
