BOLD CHEETAH (current version 2.9.A001a) VERSION 2.9.A001a - Updated Oct. 26, 2023 - Mission 04 - Fixed Briefing - Mission 12 - Fixed trigger so certain aircraft are not invulnerable. VERSION 2.9.A001 - UPDATED OCTOBER 19, 2023 - Unlimited Fuel for AI Wingmen, Scritps/Triggers updated, Silenced Wingman in Mission 3 (eliminate spam) Welcome to Bold Cheetah, a realistic and challenging 13 mission campaign for the DCS F/A-18 Hornet that will test both your and your aircraft to the limits. DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3326679/ Before we get into the details, there are some requirements that you need to be aware of before downloading and flying this campaign. • You MUST own the DCS F/A-18C Hornet Module • You MUST own the DCS Persian Gulf Map • You MUST own the DCS Supercarrier module. NO LONGER REQUIRED • OPTIONAL: For realistic Iranian F-14 markings, download this amazing skin (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/) by sadjad_vosoul on the DCS User Files section. Mission documents are included in the zip file. Please read the Bold Cheetah Campaign overview for more details on installation. ******************** Bold Cheetah is designed for a player who is proficient in the use of the DCS F/A-18C Hornet module and its weapons systems. You will also require knowledge of US Carrier operations and how to conduct operations off both aircraft carriers and land bases. Examples of challenges you will need to be able to perform include: 1. Case 1 and Case 3 operations, day and night 2. Ability to meet time over target requirements 3. Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced combat environment 4. Advanced targeting pod and weapon system employment 5. Formation flying. In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is happening once in flight. A glossary of useful terms is located at the end of this guide to help you out. ******************** INSTALLATION This campaign is designed and tested for DCS the latest Open Beta version.. I will endeavour to keep it updated as new Open Beta versions are released. I highly recommend players use the Open Beta version of DCS to get the most from this campaign. This means it will not work well on any version of DCS that is not the latest. Unzip the contents of the download to your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions\Campaigns\en folder. Since there is not currently an Iranian F-14 skin in game, I have used the amazing IRIAF Blue-Grey skin by Sadjad_Vosoul, which can be downloaded here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/ Download and extract that file into your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-14B folder. If you do not have a folder named F-14B, then you can create one in that location, then extract the contents. If you do not do this, the Iranian F-14 in-game will visually appear to be an American Tomcat. Once you download and install the campaign and skin, you will find it in the “My Campaigns” section listed as F/A-18C – Bold Cheetah. ******************** SITUATION UPDATE JUNE 1, 2013 The USS Abraham Lincoln and its task group have taken up station in the Gulf of Oman, and will soon commence air operations in support of the invocation of Article 5. The objective of our presence is to deter the Iranians from any military expansion in the region, and to show our allies that we are here for them. Our goal is to provide support to the UAE governments in fighting the growing insurgency on the peninsula. US, British, Canadian and French special forces are now on the ground, helping advise the UAE military in counter insurgency strategy. The air wing will provide assistance to this effort, including Close Air Support over and on UAE territory, and air defense of UAE and Saudi Arabian airspace. At this time, we will not be commencing any military action against any regular Iranian military force, nor will we violate the 12-mile Iranian territorial waters or 12-mile airspace boundary. However, we will be ready to strike, if and when called upon. It is hoped that once the regime in Tehran gets a taste of our presence in the region, cooler heads will prevail and they will de-escalate. ******************** More information is included in the Docs folder inside the .zip file. ******************** Author’s Note As you may know, the release of Bold Cheetah has been delayed for quite some time. In fact, the campaign has been completed for well over a year now, but due to some real-life challenges I had to put off submitting it as an official, 3rd party developer. These challenges are continuing, and I foresee them continuing into the near future. This situation has, unfortunately, caused me to pause my pursuit of releasing Bold Cheetah as a 3rd party, paid DLC. At the same time, I’m aware that I’ve been promising it’s been “coming soon” for far too long. I have decided to release the campaign, for free, into the User Files section of the ED website. I started working on Bold Cheetah back in 2018 and finished it up in 2021. It’s been a lot of hard work, and I’m really excited for you to finally enjoy it and I look forward to your feedback. We are looking for Veteran DCS Pilots as we build our initial cadre. For our purposes, a Veteran DCS Pilot is defined as a pilot who is proficient in basic airmanship and all of the combat systems of their aircraft. If you meet this requirement, please continue. Air Combat Command is a newly organized Air Force group of dedicated virtual Pilots that are looking for disciplined, humble, persistent, and selfless candidates. We hold ourselves to a high standard in basic airmanship, procedures, tactics, and knowledge. Air Combat Command offers an in-depth, detailed training pipeline to give students (of any skill-level) the best chance of succeeding in our ever-evolving complex missions. We value teamwork over a lone wolf, surviving over killing, following procedures rather than winging it, and assessing every situation with the intention of winning. You will be tested and evaluated at each step in the training pipeline. We are looking for pilots who want to perform at a high level. We will be asking for more than the bare minimum from each member, in and out of the jet. If you want to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who come together as a team, this is the place for you. Current airframes open for recruiting: F-16C, F-15E, A-10CII, C-130, HH-60 Please message me with any questions you may have and I will get back to you as soon as possible. "Mil-Sim" Rating 1-10: 8 *Age Requirement: 16 *Active Participation: Required The link to our ACC Application: https://forms.gle/jP6iojrgdykeXF2z5

LHA Tarawa lighting is extremely bright Runway "green" lights are illuminating the carrier not only to very unrealistic levels, but also causing a tremendous FPS / performance impacts. Performance during day & night a clearly different and caused by lighting. Requesting a review of lighting levels ( could be easy fix as dimming it down) to make it: a) more performant b) more realistic. c) closer in line with the "dark" lighting mood on other carrier assets. Realistic examples: (same video- different time stamps! )

WEW Lads are looking for new members!!! Aircrafts we fly: F/A-18, F14 Pilot/RIO, F15c, F15e Pilot/WSO, F16, and Mirage 2000. Requirements: Mic, 18+ (we can work 16+, but we will interview you), Be able to purchase maps like Syria/Nevada/Persian Gulf, If you fly F18 or F14 you must have Super Carrier, Be able to show up to missions We Are a NA based Squadron and our op times are at 9pm EST on Wednesdays. We also host Arma ops that correlate to the DCS ops every Thursday at 9pm EST. We do like to have fun and also randomly hold game nights to have fun. If you do wish to join the group keep please the time zone in mind as well as the following rules. Take Missions seriously and don't purposely throw the mission. While we are not a full blown realism unit, we would still qualify us as MilSim. Our playstyle is set up for people who want to fly a realistic campaign in DCS without joining a full blown realism unit. You will be expected to talk on the radio relatively correctly and to take the scenarios seriously. We will not have a rank structure nor a chain of command. Mods are simply around to moderate, not to boss you around. Before joining the Campaign please pick an aircraft you are willing to fully commit to. This should be an aircraft that you are either willing to learn or are already proficient in. This aircraft should also be something that you are willing to fly for the main campaigns in the group. Due to the nature of DCS we would prefer people to stick to an aircraft. That being said, there will be opportunities in fun events/side missions for people to fly other aircraft, as well as different campaigns that may require different aircraft. You will not be allowed to fly in the campaign unless you picked an aircraft ahead of time. Before playing the campaign with us you must complete a check flight. This is not a daunting task and we don't want to fail you. We just want to know that you are confident enough in your airframe to fly in a mission. We require an attendance rate of 2 Ops per month. If you do not meet this rate you will be removed from the group. There are obvious exceptions to this such as family issues/a college class that got scheduled for that time. We are not expecting you to sacrifice your real life for this group, but you joined the group to play, so play. People who have just joined and have not passed their check flight have 1 week to at least attempt a check flight (if no one can do your check flight in that week for some reason an exception will be made) if you do not pass this check flight, the week resets. Once again, we are not expecting you to sacrifice your real life for this group, but you joined to play. Squadron Website: http://www.wew-lads.com/ Squadron Discord: https://discord.gg/gs8HqSRE8w

Two IQAF(Iraq Air Force) Mirage F1 EQ-5 from 81st Squadron departed from Saddam AB at 31st July 1986, The 1st equiped with two Magic, two AS30L and Patrick laser pod, the 2nd equiped with two Magics, two Super530Fs, Remora/Sycomor pods and 1,160L external fuel tank, due to the mountain topology it was a hard target, approached the bridge from northeast at 820 km/h at 4000m, dived to 2700m and locked the pod on the bridge deck at a distance of 8.7km at 1900m, at 6.4km from the target he fired the AS30L missile. Iraq previously attacked with Su-22 and been able to damaged it lightly.

Hi, will we get the chance to get a better flight model and flight control system when the Hornet will leave early access, because I have read from a lot's of real world or ex real world pilots, which flow then Hornet that’s the flight behavior is not correctly and to stable, C.W said it too in his videos that the Hornet is felling it draggy, so it would be great to get a great hand flying experience when flying the Hornet !!!!!

We are a relaxed-realism group consisting of DCS players from across different walks of life and places in the world, creating realistic US operations from multiple branches to deliver a varied and exciting experience for our members. Our parent Arma 3 unit was founded in September 2016, and our DCS squadron was founded in May 2020. We are an established and tight-knit gaming community. Types of people we are looking for: We are currently looking for mission makers! Age 17+ At least conversational English proficiency Valid copy of DCS Open Beta SimpleRadio Standalone Working speakers/headset and microphone A positive attitude, high personal integrity, and maturity When it comes to what to fly, we accept flyers of any plane, but currently only use the following modules in our missions: F-14 F-16 F-18 However, we do plan on adding more modules and planes as we expand our number of experienced pilots, with plans to include A-10C, UH-1H, and the Apache, as well as any others we can consistently get enough people to fly regularly in missions! We don't require any member to own any module, but due to them being frequently used in our missions, we do highly recommend having the following modules: Supercarrier Persian Gulf Syria Our missions also use two freely available community mods as well, and will offer help getting them set up if you do not have them. A-4E Community Mod High Digit SAMs About Us US/North American-based community focused on DCS US Armed Forces CAS, CAP, and SEAD/DEAD operations. Unit Wide Monday Operations every Monday at 19:00CDT. Members from the age of 17 to their 50s. We have members from Indonesia to Brazil to the UK. They come from all walks of life from plumbers to students to corporate managers to military officers. We are more than a DCS squadron, we are a tightly knit community and we often play other games together. We want to get new members in the game quickly, and our basic training is designed to do just that: teach only what we do. We offer training on all supported airframes and roles, with the expectation that members gradually improve over time. We know DCS is a game and we just want to know that you’re up to speed. That is also why our attendance policy is a bit unorthodox, we only require you to tell us if you plan on attending or not. Though activity has its own rewards, we do not punish or adversely affect you if you can’t make it to a game session. In-game we expect seriousness and professionalism to provide an immersive and fun gaming experience. You will have a task and you will have leaders giving orders, and there will be a bit of structure. This is not to say you can’t crack a joke or anything, but there’s a point to where it can become distracting. Out of game we are just a bunch of friends goofing around like a gaming community should. We don't expect “yes sir, no sir” in or out of game. What We Bring To The Table We have multiple sections working both independently and cooperatively to bring a new level of coordinated missions. With experienced real-life Air Force controllers and pilots, we are able to simulate a high degree of realism in our operations. We want to present an active and high-energy environment that is professional when we need to be, laid back the rest of the time, and fun all the time. Our leadership is adept at what they do, whether it is designing missions and operations, or getting everyone hyped to get some game time in. We have a dedicated server for SRS, training, and operations! Why We’re Different From the Rest While no unit is totally unique, JATF-121 attempts to break out by being relaxed and professional in the realism department. Immersion is important but we eschew all the “dead weight.” We don’t have a mod for every little thing. We don’t insist that you drop real life into oblivion for a game. We don’t put new members through overly-developed and lengthy training schedules. We believe that everyone has a certain taste and style to their DCS preference. We focus on common sense but accurate policies, short training, high energy operations, active player base, and approachable but fleshed out realism and immersion. How to join 1. Join the Discord and read over the #dcs-welcome channel 2. Fill out the brief application form 3. After filling out the application we will have a quick one on one chat on TeamSpeak to make sure that we as a unit are a good fit for you, then get you into the game! Contact Information Our Teamspeak IP: ts3.taskforce121.us Discord Link: https://discord.gg/r72h6tW Several of our members stream DCS and Arma and other games on Twitch, feel free to ask for some of the channels if you'd like to watch an operation.

There are so many problems with the countermeasures on the mirage right now. 1- The plane in-game right now, does not need to mount the éclair pod to carry more than 16 flares. this is clearly a bug, éclair does nothing but add weight at the moment. (also flares will never visually come out of the éclair straight down. they always come from the fuselage launchers no matter how many you load on the plane) 2- If you select 112 chaff + 48 flares on the load-out or rearming page, you only get 42 flares loaded on the plane. 3- More importantly 48 flares (or 42 for that matter) shouldn't even be possible on the mirage IRL even with éclair pod. It's 16 flares without and 32 flares with the éclair pod IRL. 4- The game will allow you to load 162 flares 0 chaff if you ask. This should be impossible as the SPIRAL dispensers on the fuselage do not allow the much larger flare canisters to be loaded, only chaff is possible in SPIRAL. 32 flares with the éclair is the absolute limit a mirage can carry IRL. 5- The maximum countermeasures count with éclair should be 130 chaff 32 flares. 112 chaff in the spiral and another 18 in the éclair that are missing right now. To sum up: too many flares, missing chaff from the éclair, éclair is broken, spiral should not be able to load flares. It's very strange to me that these mistakes are in the game as the 3D models of the plane and the éclair pod literally allow you to count the countermeasures that they carry visually. In my opinion, countermeasures on the mirage should be on or off. either you load them full or you don't load any. there is no need for a slider like US and RUS jets. the mirage has dedicated launchers for both type that cannot be mixed. even the éclair does not allow you to choose what it carries IRL as you can see in the picture (EM is chaff IR1 and IR2 are for flares). it's either on the plane with 16 flares 18 chaff or it's not.

Below shows a Fw 190 missing right aileron, damaged left aileron, rudder significantly damaged, bullet holes thru the cockpit and canopy side-to-side of pilot, and engine smoking. It's also flying perfectly straight and level. It would not be a rare event to find such an aircraft suddenly on your tail and shoot you down. Even had them with the one gear hanging down do this. In such condition you would expect them to be out of the fight because of control issues if nothing else. These will also continue flying straight until engine quits and crash lands - but never showing as a kill. I don't know how many bullets of what type did this amount of damage - as Hits are not detailed in the debrief as with Modern. How many people would want to keep flying the Modern AC if your missile could take off a wing but it could still fly and take you out? When do the Warbirds get some love - and realism? DCS is an outstanding flight sim. However, it is also a battle sim. Loosing interest fighting zombies. What's the point!

Hi Hornet pilots, I would like to ask about your oppinion about the Hornet Flight model in the actual version ? I have heard from lemonine that the DCS Hornet is dragy or an another pilot said the DCS Hornet is too unstable and the IRL Hornet would be much more stable, did ED patch it with the time since the release and with the last FCS Update in february last year ? [PROJECT HALTED]Planning on creating a guide that aims to contain more realistic procedures and better system descriptions than already existing F-16 guides/manuals. This would be a guide for people who are interested in learning the F-16 deeper than other guides/manuals currently do. An advanced operation guide you could say. It's not supposed to be a true to life super detailed manual as those type of manuals already exists. The guide I would be making will contain advanced startup, takeoff, navigation, landing and shutdown procedures, while also having detailed system and switch description. The guide will also be aimed towards new ish players. People who know the FC3 stuff should be able to use this guide so that knowing the contents of the DCS:F-16 manual is not a requirement for this guide. The guide will most likely not contain advanced weapon systems or weapon delivery procedures, as that would require way more time investment from me than i am willing to do right now, but perhaps as time goes on I will add those stuff as well. The guide will most likely at first only contain information on how to operate the aircraft realistically in a non-combat environment. However the guide should be completely relevant for anyone interested in combat as well, just that the guide itself won't be covering those areas. What i am trying to achieve with this post is to see how much interest there currently is in a guide like this. If anyone’s interested make sure to let me know and it would also be great to get some recommendations about content that should be included. TLDR: I am making a more advanced/realistic guide for F-16. The guide is going to be aimed at people who at least know the basic FC3 stuff and who are interested in learning the F-16 to a more realistic level of detail than what other guides/manuals offers. If there is interest in such a guide, please give recommendations about what contents to include in the guide. Have safe flights everyone!

Hi, I just saw the Documentary about the Red October manouver in the 90s with the FA18C and MIG29, Phantom F4 from the German Luftwaffe and at Minute 31:05 you can see the Pilot is attending a vertical manuever with a to low airspeed and he going into a stall where the Hornet is not stable and recovered even with nose down. I tried a very simmilar manouver with the DCS Hornet and with Nose down and the Hornet immidiatly was accelarating and recovered. Could we get an improvement of the stall behavior before the Hornet will leaeve early access ? Best reguards Red October MIG29 vs FA18C:

Hi ED, With ground crew being an area that's going to be worked on, would it be feasible to implement arm-disarm pads for airfields, FOB's and FARP's? Whether they are set locations on airfields, or users can place them in the mission editor? This would add another degree of realism and tie into the ground crew functionality you are currently working on. It could also be selected as a tick box in missions if Arm-Disarm Pads are required or not. It would mean players would need to taxi to the pads prior to departure to have their weapons armed, and safe any unused weapons on return to an aerodrome. It would be great if scripting and animations occurred where ground crew approach and arm the weapons, but I appreciate this would be a rather intensive task; it could just entail groundcrew taxing you onto the pad, instructing you to hold, your weapons are armed, and they simply shoo you on your merry way. EOR pads could be implemented as well, but I don't think there's much of an argument or game improving mechanic for them. Interested on your thoughts on this, and if there's any interest from the community to adding this. Appreciate this is niche, but thought it would make a cool little game mechanic considering DCS World's realism aims. Note: the attachment is from publicly available information https://buildingcriteria1.tpub.com/ufc_3_260_01/index.htm

untilCome Join Our Sunday Night Campaign! Every Sunday night at 9PM EST we host our campaign missions. These missions have a light story behind them, data cards to go along with each mission, and proper briefings. We try our best to maintain professionalism, teach proper procedure, and most of all have fun and work as a team during these missions. They are also persistent, if a group of units dies one mission, they will not make it to the next mission. We also utilize several scripts made by the community to enhance realism, such as the IADS Script, various Moose Scripts, and so on.
