MFG Crosswind Damper Mod

Recommended Posts

Following my first (and quite successful) attempt at modding my Thrustmaster TPR thanks to Greekbull and Yomo (

), I decided to go for this mod on my MFG Crosswind.

Once again, no surprise, the feeling is incredible. Note that, unlike the TPR mod, this one can't have both centering mechanism (spring) and damper, making it less relevant for fixed wing, but totally amazing for choppers.

Is it too much hassle to ask for a parts list for this mod BAD CrC?

Does the bracket around the damper come as standard or is it and additional unit?

Any additional washers...... all the bits and bobs to see a fella through, from start to end.

What is the switch to normal use time like?

HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.

Sure Rogue,

I used this one from amazon for the MFG mod, but pretty much any long type motorcycle damper should do the trick (as long as it is a long type with like 330 to 360mm).

As you can see, all dampers come with the bracket.

For the rest, you need a long 8mm diameter screw to fix one end of the damper to the rudder moving part and one medium 4mm (or 6 mm?) screw to fix the other end using the existing hole in the base of the rudder (at least for my serial number). Of course, some washers and bolts of the same diameters.

The whole mod shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to install.

  • 1 year later...

MFG Crosswind V3 come with damper mounting holes now. I used a M8x40 with 2 bolts as spacers on the top. I used a M8x25 on the bottom.
