dburne
In case anyone does not see it, this was posted a little earlier in the Oculus Rift discussion thread by Wags: Hey everyone, Earlier we mentioned that we have been working on DCS VR optimization. I have good news today! After much investigation and work, we traced the issue back to the terrain engine. We have since adjusted the terrain engine, and this has resulted in a 50% increase in VR performance! We will continue to test and optimize this further, but we hope to have this great improvement to you soon. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3869786&postcount=2333 Awesome News!!!! Yup. Still looking to the Reverb as my VR HMD upgrade. I may even upgrade the processor to a 9900K soon, since this would be the first time in memory that a significant processor upgrade isn't going to require a new motherboard. It runs on a Z3XX series motherboard, just like my 8700K does. Starting with the GPU first though, so I can see how much difference it makes on its own. The difference between the 980ti and 1080ti on my 5960X machine was like night and day. Hopefully this will be the same. Darpa
As I long suspected... the meaning of life, the universe and everything is NOT 42. funkyfranky
50% increase in FPS is big :D Especially as the statement is kept very general, i.e. independent of GPU, CPU, HMD, map, number of units in the mission etc. A warrior's mission is to foster the success of others. i9-12900K | MSI RTX 3080Ti Suprim X | 128 GB Ram 3200 MHz DDR-4 | MSI MPG Edge Z690 | Samung EVO 980 Pro SSD | Virpil Stick, Throttle and Collective | MFG Crosswind | HP Reverb G2 RAT - On the Range - Rescue Helo - Recovery Tanker - Warehouse - Airboss

Euan Emblin
This is very promising. I currently run the Rift and have to dial down on quality as we all do. I am scoping out a new VR ubermachine and am looking at the Asus OC'd Strix 2080 Ti with 32 Gb RAM. Would you more experienced guys go for i7 9700K or i9 9900K for the CPU? I know DCS does not benefit really from HT and only uses a couple of cores. The i9 runs hotter and I intend to overclock the CPU to over 5 GHz so that is an important consideration. Please feel free to weigh in! Looking to get the HP Reverb too, unless the Valve Index is a surprise.
