D4n
See track file. in MiG-29S (ukraine), SA-2 missile (all objects set to "excellent" difficulty) passes closely behind my aircraft (maybe that already needs fix?) and detonates some 30-50 meters after passing me. Is this realistic behaviour at this range from tracking radar?MiG-29S missile detonate too late.trk Edited September 26, 2018 by DanielNL DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013 DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. Veritech
A 30 meters detonation with the S-75’s warhead should blow you out of the sky. Is the warhead the one who needs tuning. D4n
Exactly. It almost (almost) looks like ED wants foreign armies to underestimate SA-2 IRL... Rex854Warrior
Here is a track where you can see me evading sa-2 missiles by barely doing any maneuvering and not using any countermeasures, you can see some of the missiles passing at less then 100ft from my aircraft without them detonating, each and everyone of them were within 100m of my aircraft at some point, this is a general problem of DCS, not just for the Sa-2. Warheads and proximity fuzes need to be worked on. nighthawk2174
What's happening is the missile is missing and once it misses the AI self-destruts the missile. Keep in mind this is reasonably accurate as with early SAM's and most missiles usually don't directly hit the target. Its better to think of them as guided AAA shells that are trying to get as close to the target as possible before detonating. We just have to wait for ED to add the proxy fuse code that they added to the AIM7E. So its not a bug (hence the lack of response imo) just a lack of them adding a few lines of code. fuze_proximity = { ignore_inp_armed = 0, arm_delay = 0.1, radius = 6, }, As an example of the code Edited March 1, 2019 by nighthawk2174

D4n
Interesting, they removed the smoke after booster separation, and STILL (after another half year) it detonates way behind the target (after passing), even with all units set to "expert" difficulty... the 2nd missile even detotates suuuper far away.
