New Thrustmaster HOTAS Help Requested

Recommended Posts

Salutations,

I just started getting into DCS. I have a A10-C and a P51-D. I'm starting with the P51.

I realize it is a new HOTAS system... but does anyone have a controller profile I can use as a base to set mine up. Just want to save some time and get some experienced input.

Thrustmaster T-16000m FCS HOTAS

Thrustmaster TFRP T-Flight Rudder Pedals.

Thanks in advance.

It's pretty new, I'm thinking you have may have to create your own. But look at these two threads to get some ideas about what commands you might want to map. It's for Warthog, but you'll get some ideas about how the TMS, DMS, CMS buttons are used, etc.

Also, for A10, I would *HIGHLY* recommend Bunyap Sims' On The Range Youtube Series

The way I came at setting up a non-Warthog HOTAS was to try and emulate the Warthog functions THEN make profiles for my planes.

All the hints and tutorials for the A-10C then made sense without having to convert in my head.

Once I had my A-10C setup then I tried to harmonize the other plane's controls so that common functions were all in the same place, wherever possible.

I make graphic control layout sheets, to view on my 2nd monitor, so that my ageing brain doesn't have too much to remember. ;)

I started DCS with my old Thrustmaster HOTAS X.

Later I added a T16000m stick, then added a couple of buttons to that.

Next step for me is to try the new Thrustmaster TWCS throttle with all those lovely hats ...

PS

I'm not using rudder pedals at the moment as they don't fit in my current physical setup, I use the Rudder Rocker on the throttle instead

PPS

When trying to decide on the more important functions to map onto the HOTAS, Chuck's Guides are a good ...ermmm guide :)

There's nothing wrong with trying to keep the controls the same as the A20 but you have two problems;

You don't know the controls of the A10 because you started with the 51.

It doesn't really apply to WWII aircraft.

The best thing to do is set up the basic axis and a few others then start flying. Add things as needed. If you don't do it this way, you're going to have all kinds of things mapped that you're never going to use.

I did get the TWCS afterwards.

I've only set up two profiles for it so far; the A-10C and F-15C.

Next on the list is UH-1H.

See attached my new A10C TWCS/FCS profile, new F-15C and my old P-51D profile using the HOTAS X throttle.

Gives you an idea at least. ;)

P-51D Layout with TWCS

Here's my first draft for a P-51D TWCS/FCS layout.

Some binds are chosen to avoid fumbles, some to maintain harmonisation with other plane profiles.

I get the stick twist axis to work Left and Right wheel brake axes using UJR/AHK/vJoy to split one axis into two.

Edit: Updated Layout
