I just upgraded my CPU and ....

Now DCS is asking for a reactivation.. I do not want to burn one.. I think I already did when I upgraded in September but this time I just upgraded the CPU alone.. and it still asked for an activation.. I am not sure how to proceed with this and why should I have to reactivate it just because I upgraded?

You have no choice. The activation system has a points system for hardware changes. When you reach 12 points the system decides that this is a new machine and requires a new activation. If memory serves, a CPU is 13 points.

An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as

rated below:

• CPU ID: 13

• Windows PID: 3

• Computer Name: 3

• Hard drive volume serial number: 3

• MAC address: 6

• RAM amount: 6

Yeah but in this case I went from an 8150 to an 8350.. but OK.. so .. and I am not being argumentative here at all so please don't take it that way.. but where is that stated.. and why if I upgrade my PC does it count as long as I am not still using it on my old PC .. ? Different CPU is different CPU unfortunately. There is no way for the system to adjust for this.

The same thing would happen if you switched from an 8150 to another 8150. It is the actual, physical, CPU that matters, not which type of CPU it is. The system sees it's individual serial number (or something similar to that). It does not know anything more than that. (Compare to seeing a MAC adress on a network interface.)

It is in the Doc folder of the A-10 for sure and should also be in each of the other modules Doc folder as well.
