What is Shadow's Dynamic War Proejct ?:

- Do you aim to bring your DCS experience to next level and use of all of DCS's potential, while testing you skills ? The end goal is to create something which gives fulfillment to the player, a cause ! Everything counts and team play is the only key to victory. That's why these mission will be event type, with sign-ups and specific play times.

Expect having to deal with and manage realistic factors like limited amount of airframes, resources, long turn-over times and dynamic ground war. Forget the air quake, the ground war is what matters ! Heavy use of Combined Arms will be needed. A well organised team will be structured with dedicated Commanders, Controllers, ATC and Pilots.

Hopefully, I am not alone with my vision of what MP should look like in DCS. Hope you enjoy !

What is Georgian Retaliation ?:

- “Georgian Retaliation” is the next evolution of “Shadow’s Dynamic War Project”. The concept is transforming into a medium size, campaign. All mechanics seen in previous scenario carry over, with new additions. Two teams (factions)will have to face each other, while managing their progress and development.

What roles can you take?:

- We are looking for A-10C, F/A-18C, J-11A, JF-17, Ka-50, Mi-8, SA 342M, UH-1H pilots as well as people who would be interested in playing DCS as a strategy, filling in a ground commander or a team commander role.

What is the Scenario ?:

- After the Georgina conflicts (circa 91-93) and the separation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the tension between the different states has been high. Russia siding with and backing up Abkhazia and South Ossetia lead to the acceptance of Georgia in NATO.

Ever since that happened, coalition forces have been conducting exercises with the Georgian military, as well as provided Air Policing for them. Currently the US has stationed USMC F/A-18C Hornets, as well as USAFE A-10Cs in Georgia. French Army’s SA-345Ms are present as well. US ground forces are in theater, conducting multiple training exercises in preparation for something massive.

Worrying about an upcoming conflict, Abkhazian forces have been mobilizing , with additional Russian forces aiding them. Tensions have escalated. Small group of all Russian vehicles have been noticed between them as well. Russian Su-27s (J-11 in for Su-27SMs), Su-30s (JF-17 in for Su-30s) and Ka-50s have been stationed in Abkhazia.

When will it happen ?:

- Initial date, planned to launch the campaign is the 29th of the August 2020@ 1800Z, but it is a subject of change, depending on the availability of people. Follow up session for the campaign are expected to be every weekend or two.

How can I sign-up and where will the organization happen ?:

- On the Dynamic War Discord, where all the needed information will be given to all parties involved. You can find it here: https://discord.gg/hDpd6Wk

Is there any documentation that can be seen, describing the event more ?:

- Yes, a general documentation, available to everyone can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Dc0qLfR0QC5PwFeZigJ7yy3krjzC08jF/view?usp=sharing

All, team sensitive information, will be disclosed with the team's commanders in secured channels on the Discord.

Got any more questions ? Feel free to ask here, or even better, on the Discord.

As you wish, would be happy to have you. As the setup for this campaign is modernish there is no restriction to the ability to have the AIM-120 in your typical public server's way. There a lot of other factora in play, which might limit its use. If you would like to join, hop on the discord.

F-16s have been added to the buy lists. The team that has access to them can purchase them.

If you are interested in the project, cime check out the discord.

Now, with the latest updates, they are a somewhat sensible purchase, but when the documentation was created, they were lacking a lot of features and not worth it.

Retaining their momentum from Day 1, BLUEFOR had the initiative and decided to continue their advance in the cover of darkness. This meant that the session started at around 1AM. Although the night handicapped REDFOR to a certain extent, it also slowed down BLUE's push.

REDFOR was able to sneak at least one vehicle behind enemy lines, without BLUE realizing. In the fog of war, RED scout vehicles, were able to pass by BLUE vehicles undetected, gambling on VID confusion from BLUE, as both teams operate russian tech. REDFOR struck another small victory, by shooting down an F-16. Unfortunately for RED, it was not without losses on their side. Ground fire was able to destroy two Ka-50s.... one of which was landed, while the pilot got out to take care of his bodily needs.

BLUEFOR keeps their initiative going by gaining more ground. Day 3 of the campaign is scheduled to be played on the 7th of November.

Day 3 of the campaign saw another early start, initiated by BLUEFOR. At 0630L time, ground fighting began. A lot of blood was spilled on the border between Georgia and Abkhazia. Both sides suffered a significant amount of losses, although BLUEFOR was able to continue their push inland.

Although BLUEFOR was enjoying solid progress on the ground, the same cannot be said for their air assets. REDFOR was able to surround 2x F/A-18 Hornets and sandwich them. It was down hill from there, as REDFOR Flankers and Fulcrums were able to score another 3 air kills. REDFOR did suffer one loss.

While BLUEFOR did achieve the overall ground victory for the session, REDFOR was able to, again, sneak in a couple of units, behind enemy lines. While the backragers were being picked one by one, a solo BMP-3 was able to fight its way through, discover and destroy crucial Patriot SAM battery units.

Day 4 promises an interesting session. Both coalitions have to carefully plan and pick their moves, as the outcome of the campaign is at question. Round 4 is planned for the 28th of November.

The date is 6th of October, 2005 (Day 4 of the conflict). Seems like BLUEFOR had enough of night time operations and decided on a daylight engagement. In the early minutes of the session, SCUD missiles were spotted overflying Georgia and landing near key locations for BLUEFOR, as well as hitting civilian infrastructure.

Except the surprise SCUD attack, there was little to no action for the first hour of the session, as both team's were playing cautiously, trying to asses the situation on the battlefield, in attempt to read into the plans of their opponents.

Several Ka-50 attack helicopters were spotted flying around the front lines, scouting and engaging targets of opportunity. In an attempt to provide air superiority for their attack helicopters, REDFOR started applying pressure in the air and exchanging missiles with their opponents. Their attacks were met with success, as two BLUEFOR aircraft went down. Maybe in a moment of over-confidence, a REDFOR MiG was caught in the clutches of BLUEFOR Air Defenses and taken out of the sky.

Meanwhile with minimal losses, BLUEFOR ground fire was able to take down some of the attack helicopters in the area. Although BLUEFOR was able to gain some ground, their advance was insignificant compared to their previous victories, leading to a more of a neutral ground situation. This, combined with REDFOR's overall bigger objective success, means ,that for the first time in this campaign, they will have the initiative, starting Day 5. Day 5 is planned for the 19th of Decemeber.

The war has been going on for about 5 days now. The faith of Sukhumi is at question ! BLUEFOR has slowly, but surely been advancing further into Abkhazia. Day 4 did not see any major ground conflicts, which gave Red a chance to catch their breath and regroup. Maybe due to overconfidence, or just sheer overlook, BLUEFOR continued to push north-west lazily, breaking up formation. They had initial success, being able to destroy a SA-10 site, after they had it zeroed in on Day 4, but soon their advance was abruptly halted, when the out of formation ground forces met a strong defensive line.

Seeing their opportunity to catch BLUEFOR off-guard, REDFOR started a counter-push, maneuvering the defensive line as one, reclaiming ground. REDFOR were also able to flank the rear of the disorganized BLUEFOR platoons and destroy key artillery units.

The battle on the ground seems to have turned tides in favor of REDFOR, for the first time, since the start of the conflict. Unfortunately for RED, the air battle had turned tides as well.

Corruption and inner conflicts have plagued REDFOR, even before the war started. A group of rogue pilots decided to take matters in their own hands, ignoring any communication from RED command and leaving their brothers on the front line alone. A major part of REDFOR's airforce had gone on a suicide mission. This confusion inside RED ranks, exposed the few loyal pilots left to danger. BLUEFOR aircraft quickly capitalized on that and scored an air victory against a lonely strike aircraft.

Meanwhile the rogue flight, was sneaking around the valleys of the Caucasus, flanking the raging ground battle. One of the rogue aircraft, a Su-25, crashed into a mountain side, on its way to their self proclaimed objective. The rogue flight was met with limited success and all the pilots in it perished. With this loss, REDFOR's air force was almost completely wiped out.

Going over all the looses and trouble that the war has caused, REDFOR command decided to request a cease fire and end the war. BLUEFOR having not completed their main objective of completely capturing Abkhazia was hesitant, but due to political pressure agreed on the cease fire and a new border was drawn.

The new border was set, as the picture (by Goblin) below shows:

With this, the first ever campaign of my "Dynamic War Project" has been completed. I wanna thank all the people have shown interest and/or have taken part. I've had a lot of positive feedback about the experience, which this campaign has given to some people and I am really happy about that.

I will leave the team roles up for a couple of days more and then remove them, resetting both channels.
