Ok here are a few naval and air bases for you..

Norfolk naval base, Virginia, USA

Homeport of the USN Atlantic Fleet - its the main US navalbase and the largest in the world. The "inventory list" counts 5 aircraft carriers, 8 amphibious assault ships, 6 Ticonderoga-class cruisers, some 22 Burke-class destroyers and 5 OHP class frigates.

Severomorsk naval base, Russia

The main Russian navalbase and homeport to the Russian Northern Fleet. The inventory currently counts: one aircraft carrier(not moored here though - see link below), one Kirov-class heavy cruiser, one Slava-class cruiser, two Sovremenny class destroyers, 4 Udaloy class ASW destroyers, one Ivan Rogov class landing ship and several Repoucha class landing ships.

Port of Murmansk, Russia

This is not a navalbase, but as Severomorsk doesn't have a pier large enough to accomodate the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier("Heavy Aviation Cruiser"), the ship is moored here.

Severomorsk 3 airbase, Russia

One of 3 airbases(as the name suggests) around Severomorsk - the "Severomorsk 3" is the home base for the 279 KIAP(Shipborne Fighter Air Regiment), which forms the fighter airwing of the Admiral Kuznetsov. All Su-33s in service are operated by this unit.

Vladivostok naval base, Russia

Homeport of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Portsmouth naval base, UK

The main British navalbase and homeport to many different kinds of vessels - including the Invincible class aircraft carriers("through-deck cruisers) - one of which is visible in the satellite image.

Korsoer naval base, Denmark

Homeport of several "Flyvefisken class" patrol vessels, three "Niels Juhl class" corvettes and two new "Absalon class" flexible support ships - the second of which(L17 "Esbern Snare") can be seen in the satellite image.

The base is located just north of Cadiz in southern Spain and is homeport to the Spanish navy's single aircraft carrier "Principe de Asturias"(# R11), several Santa Maria-class frigates(based on US OHP class design) and two(L51 and L52) Galicia class LPDs. The base also has a large airfield.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Area 51 (world second longest runway 8 km after Edwards AFB 12.1 km , where sensitive US army projects are developed U2 , A12 , F117 , also where the Mig-21 which deserted to Israel was closely examinated by the US)

Edwards AFB (another base where american army sensitive stuff's being developed and tested less secret than Groom lake but still a first importance one , the base has the world longest runway and provides lot of flat areas which are great emergency landings places as well , the space shuttle lands there when there's bad weather over Florida , there's lot to say about that base i'll end saying that the first plane which broke the sound barrier was the X-1 which started from Edwards)

Nellis AFB & firing range (american biggest firing range 12,130 km² , area 51 is part of the firing range)

They do weekly tours I'm told. I'm going there before I die definitely. How cool must it be to live in one of those houses opposite on the North side, imagine waking up to that view!

Is there a Russian equivalent, or'd they just sell all their old shit to Libya/Iraq/Iran/India/Pakistan/anyone else who had a few quid?

This a museum which is nearby. Can I join you too? :music_whistling:

the top would be a nightly visit with clear skies and space music on the ears . but as there are some planes supposed to be put back to service in a short amount of time if needed it seems that it isn't possible :( . unless there is maybe a place exclusively dedicated to the junkyard where you could negociate with the night watchman
