Stick shaking?

VC

Recommended Posts

I noticed while flying the JF-17 that the stick in the cockpit shakes rapidly even with very slight control input. I have checked the joystick movement in the controls/axis page, the input-output is smooth. The flying itself is smooth, just the stick model in the cockpit visually shakes. Any ideas what this might be?

That means that your pilot is shaking because cold. I would recommend you to move the ECS to 30+ degrees.

If you move the ECS to more that that, you will die of heat, so not good.

I... can't tell if you're joking or if this is a detail Deka actually implemented...

It seems to be a slow speed thing but still doesn't look right.

It is not a Joke, if you don't control your ECS temperature, your pilot will start shawing, and it will shake stick and pedals, and, also, you can listen to the Pilots teeths smashing into each other while low temp situations. On the other hand, if you go to very high temp, your pilot will suffer a heatstoke and you will start seeing everything in black and white and... You should now what comes next ;D

It is implemented, one of those Deka details in the Airplane, they're a lot more.

So I see the temp setting has Auto at the top and Man at the bottom, then numbers around. Do I need to set it to the bottom first to activate Man, or as soon as it's not in the middle at the top it's using the temperatures?

I will also do more testing, because it seemed it was happening at <300 knots but not >300 knots.

As far as I can tell, just move it change temperature in 5C increments

Ah, I think I've been mis-reading the labels on the dial. The whole temperature increment section is "auto", set temp and it tries to keep it. Man at the bottom is either hot or cold.

This is quite the detail...

EDIT: tried it and could get the pilot to overheat, but still had the stick shake even when it was too hot, and it did not go away with the temperature on 30 either. :(

Maybe you had the DE-FOG on? AFAIK that will get Cold Air into the cockpit, but not sure if it is your issue

I also noticed this shaking yesterday but didn't care about it much. Today i noticed it again, it looks like the shaking stick starts after you press the de-fog button.

Track and YT video(should be 1440p after processing) attached, i'm using the latest OB.

EDIT: WARNING, track was made on the Syria map! Sorry that i didn't mention it before.

It would be nice if we could have an answer from Deka if this is working like intended or not.

The stick shaking today happened to me, but it went out when I adjusted the Temperature Knob.

De-fog will make your pilot shake because is getting cold Air into the cockpit I think.

Set to 30 degrees? When I do this it does not go away, even after I manually cycle ECS to turn defog off. Also in the video you can see he does the same thing, cycles ECS then increases temperature, and shaking stays.

Yes, i cycled ECS and put the temperature to 35 degrees. Also note that the track playes a little longer than the video, so it was set to 35 degrees for a longer time periode than the video shows(not for minutes, but still longer ;) )

For some reason when I download your track I can't see it to replay.

So just to be clear, does cycling ECS to turn defog off stop the shaking? Because in your video it looks like it's still there after you cycle.

Ah stupid ME, i did the test on the Syria map. So if you don't own that map you can't replay that track. I will do another on caucasus.

No, it doesn't stop shaking. After i turn the temperature knob to 35 degrees the track replays for another ~40 seconds and in that time the shaking still exists. Considering the shaking starts instantly after pressing the de-fog switch i don't think this is a "pilot is freezing" situation or the ECS just sucks to get the cockpit back to "normal". :P

EDIT: Track showing the shaking, this time on the caucasus map(default DCS weather).

Thank you for the track and additional investigation. Do you mind if I make a bug report with your track or do you want to do it?

Go ahead, prbably the fastest way to get an answer from Deka. If you want to include the video also, just click on quote of my post with the video and copy the [Youtube....row, should work.
