I upgraded to 2.5.1 , purchased the L-39 Albatros:Kursant yesterday (Friday). As of today it is showing in my installed Campaigns module but it does not have the box for the serial number and is not showing on my in game menue.

My Caucasus and Normandy modules are showing up in my modul terrains and all my purchased planes are showing up and they work fine,

Can anyone help me with this?

Is there something I need to do to get in to install or is this a bug where I wasted my money to purchase it?

@rephiled i am sorry, but now i have no idea, how you could solve it.

@retired_old_sarge the campaign is bond to your account, so serial numbers are gone for the new DLCs.

what do you mean with

..but it does not have the box for the serial number and is not showing on my in game menue.

you can start the campaign under CAMPAIGN / L-39.

There is no English for radio its STILL in Russian all the start page for mission has all the selections for English is grayed out. Unless I missed something I tried first mission and only to lines are in English I cant understand tower instruction, I bought this because it said it hand English but, I don't see how to turn that on

You're hard to read, but I understand that the ATC communications are still in Russian. It's set by DCS, the campaign cannot override this except if they do their own communications (like the M-2000C campaign).

So it's normal and AFAIK it's not possible to change that. The subtitles show the translation in English however, and anyway that part is not really important since ATC has never been debugged/finished.

I upgraded to open beta yesterday and purchased the L-39 Kursant campaign. It is showing in my module but does not have the serial number block and is not showing in my game.

Can anyone help me with this as I have no idea what I need to do to get it to load so I can play it.

What I ment by the box is to the right of where it is listed in my module.

Most have the box with the serial number in it but this one has no box showing it. Maybe I am using the wrong term but anyway, it is listed but not working or showing up when I go into the game.

when I select my L-39 and go into campaigns Kursant is there but status is saying inactive

Inactive just means you are not currently playing it. Just click on the Kursant Campaign, and then the green button to the bottom right, it will load and you should be good to go! And as explained earlier, the serial numbers are gone when it comes to newer modules. They are now electronically connected to your account.

I had a quick try, but in the first mission,

- apparently it does not detect the flaps on the approach, it systematically says the flaps could not be extended, but he hadn't say to extend them to 44° yet, only 25°,

- on the second attempt he didn't even say to lower the flaps to 25°, directly said they couldn't be extended (speed is fine, approach is fine),

- on the second attempt with a go-around, the instructor doesn't say anything anymore, even though I'm back at 200 m with the correct speed.

Most likely trigger issues?

Its obvious that I have been duped again. When I purchased the L-39 it did not say it was in Russian now I have purchased the campaign that says it's in English and it is not but for a few lines. and there are no subtitles that it also says it has.

First of all, the options that are grayed out are only available for change out of game, so in the main menu. That means that if you want to change that Russian into something else, you need to go to the main menu and click the gear icon on the top. Secondly, the tower is in Russian because you are in a Russian Airforce aircraft on the Russian side of the map. As of yet there is no way to change that language without some advanced knowledge of the ME (e.g. open the missions from the campaign individually in the Mission Editor and change the coalition/country to NATO). The back seater is supposed to be in English as is the briefing. In my experience, the (Russian) ATC is not needed for this campaign. Sure, it adds a little immersion, but you will be totally fine when you do not use it. You will not fail any mission etc. You can even check your kneeboard and see which runway is in use and what way you are supposed to taxi etc. Hope this helped you out a bit!

That is not the point it was sold has having English and Russian not mixed it might be only 10.00 but, I would not have purchased it if it said that. Same with main purchase there was no mention of all spoken instruction only in Russian again had I known that I would not have wasted the 70.00 Canadian I paid for something that once again I will be uninstalling this as its just been a waste of money

We have already explained to you TWICE that the tower communications have nothing to do with the missions and campaigns.

It's a negligible part of any mission, so I don't see why you are making such a fuss out of it and hammering on this small detail. There are subtitles in English for those communications and it's more immersive since you are at a Russian airbase.

If you still have to insist on that point, take it up with Eagle Dynamics and add it to the wishlist for DCS world in the support section, it has nothing to do in this thread.

+1 .

Just to clarify for all potentially interested in the campaign.

If English is selected, all of the instructor dialogs, both audio and subtitles are in English.

What is in Russian is the ATC communication - which is a standard DCS core ATC communication. This is due to the fact that the player is flying in Russian AF - which I assume is authors decision. It actually perfectly makes sense and adds a lot to the immersion. L-39 is an east block trainer. Plus Majkop is actually a base hosting training regiments (as far as I was able to find):

- 709th Training Aviation Regiment (united with 761 08.1991)

  • Yak-11/18, 1951-1956,
  • MiG-15, 1955-1960's,
  • MiG-17, 1960-1978
  • MiG-21, 1974-1991

- 761st Training Regiment

  • MiG-15, 12.51-1953,

  • MiG-17, 1.53-1969,

  • L-29, 1969-1991,

  • L-39, 1988-1998,

  • MiG-23, 1998-today

So far I flew only the first mission and enjoyed it a lot. Though I had flew the patter in L-39 already before, doing it by the numbers - especially keeping ate the same level of altitude within limit wasn't so easy as it seems.

One thing got me interested though. The pattern in the campaign mission is quite tight - 200 m AGL with 45° turns. The one from DCS L-39 manual is much wider - flown at 600 m AGL with 20° bank. Aero L-39 pilot hand book typical landing circle pattern parameters is 500 m AGL.

I wonder if the authors could shed some more background on he campaign pattern. Is it the way how it's applied during the Russian pilots training?
