Stennis Cable bug

So I was messing around doing some CASE I landings and I landing 3 times and then on the 4th time I got stuck on Cable Number 4 and sat there as it pulled me back (it took ten minutes) and then after thinking it would let me free it just kept me there and I sat there for another 5 minutes. I sat there to ensure that it was not just some bug but it turns out it is. I repeated this about 4 or 5 times and same thing happens.

Anyone else having this problem?

Screenshot below of me being stuck.

Track?

I've tried to watch the track back but it is bugged. As of late all my tracks have about 5 to 10 minutes of actual flying then it bugs out to me crashing into the ground/water. So yeah I would but it would be pointless. I am sure this track file bug is already an issue known to ED.

I think I figured it out. I have a lot of traps in the Hornet/Tomcat combined, and since the 2.5.5 patch has been the only time I've been having issues, and that issue seems to be that the cable logic wants you to spend a specific amount of time in MIL after the trap. If you chop the throttles early, you get stuck. If you stay in MIL longer than 1.0 seconds, it rapidly unhooks and you start to roll very fast--I have to slam the brakes every time after unhooking now.

It appears that if you do get stuck, go into burner for just long enough to creep forward, then chop the throttles. Then it will unhook.

Proof to trap both carriers at once

for Singleplayer and multiplayer

across two Kuznetsov or across 1:Kuznetsov and 2:Stennis or 1:Stennis,2:Kuznetsov,

(and maybe across 2 Stennis)

MP track, on the second landing:

Until reconnect to server the streched carrier is unusable, in SP you guess it.

SP track attached, on the third landing:

Now cable release and cable stretch bug packed in one. Either marked as reported.

Stretch bug live in 2.5.5.32533:

It's a feature. If you're coming in a little high the cable will meet you half way.

You've heard of hook skip? This is wire skip.

No Workaround

Prevoiusly when I changed carriers, I first done a touch and go without hook using to wire area.

This way I tried to avoid the bug, but it is not 100% safe.

  • ED Team
I've done a test with 3 carriers and 5 landings (4arrests, I was out of practice) and the cable stretch bug not appeared in 2.5.6.45915

Good to hear, thanks for letting us know.
