Another strange anomaly

Something strange happened while i was descending from 9000m. All of a sudden, the speed and mach indicator went to 0 for about a minutes then came back to life. Pitot heat was on. What could have caused this?

It sure looks like pitot icing. Even if pitot heat was on, it may have not been enough to prevent ice from accumulating and blocking the tube.

Correct. Sometimes the heating is not enough to prevent it.

And to think, if the pitot heater can't keep the ice away .... your wings would be done for! Engine inlet ice too. That would be an unwelcome addition to the compressor blades once that stuff started flaking off. That sure would be an interesting effect in the sim if possible.

I think there is too much clear air icing in this game. I don't see how there could be ice forming whilst climbing into colder air with a warmer airframe.

Descending into warmer more moist air with a cooled airframe, sure then I guess you could see ice building up without the need for visible moisture, ie clouds, for or precipitation.
