Ala12Rv-watermanpc
Just wanted to share with you guys a little BIG DETAIL I found in the new 2.1 lighting...when the sun is very low in the horizon, when there is no light already in the ground the new 2.1 version looks AMAZING!, because as in real life, the light and color af the sky is indirectly iluminating the ground and planes's surfaces so its no more an "ugly" hour. While flying low between the canyons in Nevada at that time, I wondered...what if I make a vertical climb to see the sun??:)...nah!, dont think this is possible, the sun is already gone in fact but I want to see how it looks from up there anyway and: wow, it actually worked!!, I could reach to the point where I could see the sun AGAIN!! once it was already gone from below!! ...just like in real life, the light of the sun gets occluded by the terrain and whats more, it CAST SHADOWS!! so you are low and dark and after a sudden climb you are bathed in the wonderful intense red of the sunset :) Of course there are some problems (terrain just under the sunset looks oddly iluminated, like transparent, shadows flickers when you are extremely high and self shadowing dissapear also abruptly not coming back when its very late but when they fix this issues it will rock). Are this kind of DETAILS what I think makes a real difference, hope to see them more and more often, thanks for this :) Edited May 29, 2017 by watermanpc Take a look at my MODS here
QuiGon
That's not a new feature of 2.1. It's been around for a while. You can check it in 1.5. Maybe it looks a bit prettier now? ;) It's still awesome though :D Edited May 29, 2017 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing! Ala12Rv-watermanpc
Really??...in 1.5 and 2.0 lighting, at that "extreme" hours iirc there were no self shadowing or it was so washed out and clear that it wasnt even noticeable...now, the last ray of the sun is well defined, well colored and cast intense shadows just like it must be... anyway, I think its a great thing to have  Take a look at my MODS here
mkiii
I'm pretty sure he meant that you can already chase the sun by gaining altitude like that in 1.5, not that it "looks" the same in 1.5.

Gunny Highway
Good shots showing that green dot in the middle of the HUD now when using DS! :( yeah noticed this on the F15 now. Lots of little (some not so little) issues popped up with 2.1.
