Hi there folks,

Just wondering if the F/A-18C will have full mouse clickable cockpit like the A-10C and also can I use my TM A-10C Warthog Throttle and Stick adequately for the F/A-18C?

Cheers G :)

Yes, it will. From this point on, any official module will be clickable.

I'll second that emotion. I can't wait either. Like Protea1, I was also introduced to the Hornet via Jane's F/A-18 sim back in '99, along with Digital Integrations' Super Hornet, followed by Graphsim's F/A-18 Operation Iraqi Freedom in '03. I'm equally excited about TM's upcoming release of an F/A-18 replica Flight Stick. Back in the day, I believe used Sun Com's F/A-18 replica stick. A modest plastic build - but it added some realism to the mix. I remember running the sims on first, an IBM XT and later, an AT with crappy graphics. My how time changes and Fly's by.

I even think, that some times, A-10 HOTAS is much more powerfull then F-18.

I mean, it can carry a lot of functionality - especially using modificators thorough DCS controls adjustment.

I worked on F-18s in the 80's & 90's as an AE in the navy. So I know what all the info on there means.

Ok, good to hear that :)

Out of curiosity... is there functionality on the F18 stick that isn't on the A10 warthog stick? Or put another way... can the A10 stick do everything that the F18 stick does?

I still haven't picked up the Warthog HOTAS and am now getting ready to buy it and am really curious.

There are less buttons on the F-18 flight stick than the A-10. Adding the F-18 replacement head will add to the realism. So budget for both. LOL. It will sit next to the Cougar when not being used. I wish Thrustmaster would add force feedback into the products. I had a chance to fly both the F-18 and F-14 simulators at Norfolk. You could feel the air pressure on the control surfaces telling you to trim the aircraft. They actually induced fatigue if you didn't trim. It really added to the immersion.

  • 3 weeks later...

It would be nice if TM would give us a complete F-18 stick/throttle. We can change the stick, but the rest of it will still be A-10C.

Plus, for someone new to buying a new stick/throttle it would save them from having to buy the Warthog stick and adding the F-18 stick which i'm guessing won't be cheap.

Of course, MSRP for the F-18 stick is unknown but TM has sold the Warthog grip, as replacement part, for about $100, IIRC.

If I remember correctly, even the hornet throttles have a lot less bells and whistles on them. I think having the Warthog throttle, while not ideal, will give us way more items that can be mapped. I am looking forward to the hornet stick. I feel it's a decent compromise both performance and cost wise.
