That shouldn't happen. They should all bomb their own target. Some of the fuel tanks stand very close together. Might it just seem as if they are bombing the same target?

It didn't really look like it, but I will pay attention to that, thanks.

The escorts are set up to fly from the IP to the egress point in order not to enter the target area. Since this mission is so short, most interceptors will approach from the rear on the way back and the escorts might not detect them.

Yeah, that's probably what's happening here. The enemy interceptors from the rear arrive late, just like the interceptors that take off from the target air base (Creech AFB) some minutes after my strike flight arrived overhead. The F-4 escorts are long gone by that time.

Installed this tonight and took off on a generated strike mission with a 2nd F-5E, got him killed just past our join point, had to jettison all my weapons and then fought 2 Mig-21's to a standoff forget to reset jettison switch so missed out on 3 good Fox2 opportunities.

Great experience and highlighted my lack of preparation as I expected more of the mission elements in the kneeboard.

Thanks MBot, this is going to be fun while I wait for the Hornet and learn how to bomb stuff using the 'old ways'.

Edited to add, watched the track in TacView and can't believe how poorly I managed the approach from our join point towards the target, I never saw the MiG's coming up, but in the end both of the -21's were shot down, one by aHawk SAM and one by a late launching F-5E CAP bird.

Gents,

Any tips to install it on 2.5?

I installed in mods/aircraft/campaigns and did the modification on missionscript.lua, but got a script error message at the end.

Tks for any help.

Hi guys, I posted this in the other campaign thread but this seems to be way more active so I decided to repost here. Hope someone has some ideas:

Thanks for this amazing development MBot!

I am enjoying the campaign so far. However I've found a problem that is driving me crazy.

I'm currently at the third mission that has been generated for bombing Lincoln County airstrip and the AI won't drop bombs on it no matter what I do. I've flown two in which my flight is carrying out the attack and one in which I was the escort and an AI flight was bombing. In all three cases, no AI plane dropped any bombs.

I've been playing around with the last mission in the editor, trying to find out what's going on and after multiple attempts I can't get it to work. If I set my flight to AI pilots, they just fly over the airstrip and do nothing. No one is firing at them, they are not defensive, just flying over the route.

This is the attack command in the mission editor for the IP point:

CustomMapObjectAttack("Pack 4 - 64 FWS - Strike 1", {{ x = -224070.79272461, y = 33343.052246094}, { x = -224092.34985352, y = 33364.486877441}, { x = -224142.20776367, y = 33386.690185547}, { x = -224164.14575195, y = 33382.904174805}, { x = -224176.50585938, y = 33359.448669434}, }, "All", "2032", "nil")

The attacks on Creech went fine and I had it at 0% in a couple of sorties.

Any ideas?

Hey Folks,

I'm really enjoying this campaign on dcs 2.2.0. Great work MBot

I have a quick question about Air Base targets. I have been assigned the strike mission at Creech to hit fuel tanks and ammo warehouses. The fuel tanks are easy enough to see, but where do you pick out the ammo warehouses? Is there any intel available about buildings at the various bases?

Cheers!

If you play SP you should be able to see the mission targets in the planning screen (little triangles) so you can find all of them. In MP it's more difficult because you don't have this possibility... (open it in mission editor before launching it) ;)
Ok thanks PB0_CEF, I'll try that. I did open the mission editor before flying to check the steerpoints and zoomed into Creech but didn't notice anything standing out. Having said that though I wasn't looking for target triangles.

Make sure your flight is selected or you won’t see them (it’s part of the attack map object waypoint).

I'm having the same issue with Lincoln county. I can't get my flight to attack Map Objects. The F-4 escort seems to want to do SEAD as well. They keep engaging the EWR near the airport. All the other strikes to Creech, Beatty, and Pahute worked just fine.

I was able to get my flight to attack the AAA though.

Anyone got ideas?

Guys, I implemented a workaround for the AI not attacking targets issue.

It seems like there are actually two problems:

1. The wingmen AI have problems following the scripted attack orders. I suspect they follow your orders instead and this is just ignored. I'm nowhere near completely sure though.

2. The "Attack map object" orders do not work in some instances. I don't know why, but changing them to bombing makes the AI attack the targets 100% of the times I tried.

So what I did was changing the orders to bombing and enabling the default (non scripted) attack orders (the ones you see on the map).

I uploaded the change to my github. If MBot prefers me removing it from there I will of course comply. But I thought it might be useful to get some feedback and get this fixed as soon as possible.

Hi folks. I'm a relative newb to DCS and I'm enjoying this campaign. The only challenge is that I'm pretty rubbish at dogfighting, so before I fly any mission, I open it in mission editor to edit the enemy pilot skill to "average". Is there a way that I can edit the scripts to force an average skill setting?

I had tried restarting the campaign, but it still didn't work. So I edited the "oob_air" file in the status folder, and then ran nextmission.bat, and that seemed to work. Now just to mark the flights as not hidden, and add the radio presets to both UHF and V/UHF radios. Any hints?

Thanks for your help, pal! Much appreciated!

Hey Folks,

I decided to get back into this campaign with the F-5 while the Tomcat issues are getting fixed. Enjoying it immensely.

Although, I'm stuggling to succesfully complete a strike mission at Pahute airfield, which could be attributed to tactics and/or timings. With only 4 escorts, about 6 to 8 enemy bandits show up and inundate the F-4s (2 are lost in the first minutes), then take us strikers (heavy with bombs and rockets) down before we get to the target.

1. Should I be trying to flying NOE to be undetected?

2. Are there settings to adjust to make the enemy response more realistic?

3. Is there a setting to assign a bigger escort contingent?

Many thanks!

Cheers!
