luckybob9
Huge amount of work to create any kind of map. Data hunting is a super hard part. Not only do you need aircraft charts, you need elevation maps that are accurate and detailed, river data, lake data, road and rail data, forest areas, etc. The hardest to find is good satellite imagery for the textures. Sure your free Landsat 7 textures can look ok far out. But when your right over the ground, they can make your eyes vomit. Not to mention putting it all together... Much more efficient to just create some afghan village models and place them in the targeting range. That's what the airforce does for training Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. Maximus
I don't even want Davis Monthan. I live in AZ and fly here every day and it is soooo boring I can't even tell you. I don't want training bases at all. Red Flag? Really? Schoolhouse ops? C'mon people! How about they do it the way it was meant to be 30 years ago? Germany and the Fulda Gap. That's what the A-10 was designed for: a speed bump in the face of the Red Menace. Instead of dweeby Red Flag sorties let's simulate the ultimate nightmare of the 70's and 80's. That's what I'd want if it couldn't be the Afghan theater that's actually happening right now. Oh I'd so love checking in with Nellis Range control. Not. That's right I'm bringing back NOT from Wayne's World 20 years ago just to put an explanation point about how much I am not interested in Nevada. If you can't simulate going to the Las Vegas Strip after the flying is done there's no reason at all to fly Nevada, just as there's little to no reason to go anywhere near 99% of Nevada. Lake Tahoe is nice (the California side that is). come on. ED is all about realistic. all A10C pilots starts at Nellis/DM AFB. I think it's very reasonable approach of ED's plan. Scarecrow
Thanks very much for the update Luckybob and Wags it's a great privilge to be able to have such access to a dev team, can't wait for Nevada. Will Vegas be on the map and will it be true to life i.e will trademark stuff restrict the use of the casinos/hotels logos etc?

Newt
I have a quick question about the Nevada map. Are the clouds the same as they are in the normal map? When I see beta videos it seems like the clouds look better than I normally see them in my sim. Yes, my graphics are all the way up and my pc is pretty beefy. So, it's either in my head or there is an improvement (I'm hoping for the latter, for more than one reason :P.) Thanks. I focus more on building and error checking so I don't really pay attention to clouds. Newt
Lol It can not be public information until you tell us. Then it will be public; no harm done! But no, I understand :) I'm just pleased that this community is able to speak with programmers, testers and creators so easily. It is somewhat of a rare thing. So, thank you. sam777777
...allowed us to use much higher res terrain textures than the old beta. Thank you! That was my main problem with it, I always got my scale wrong and ended up feeling like I was very low to the ground and the tanks were the size of household cats... very disconcerting. <VAAF> Virtual Australian Air-Force :joystick::pilotfly:

Tanks moving fast were hard to see until they shot at you. Whats funny is they were already higher res than A10C textures. luckybob9
I'm simply wondering where that came from. For all I know there very well could be only one base, but then again there could be 10. Oh wait...actually I do know :). But anyways speculation can be a funny thing. For instance is there a hidden message in this post?
