Properly create mortar

I searched the forum and found several posts regarding this issue but still no solution. Can someone help me create a functioning US mortar team that will on some trigger start firing on some designated map point. Scenario is to have mortar firing repeatedly and player has to locate and destroy this unit.

So far I have put a mortar unit on a map but strangely it only consists of mortar tubes, no soldiers and I can't make it fire. Are there any limitations for mortars except range maybe?

Outta missiles, outta bullets, down to harsh language...

Range is displayed on the ME map. Artillery has a ~3 minute fire delay. Fast forward your mission 3-5 minutes and see if they fire.
