DCS : F4U-1 Corsair

My choice would be both: The F4U-1D and the F4U-4. I'd buy both of them. Actually, there's a movie some of you might have seen called "Bridges at Toko-Ri". Take all the aircraft from that movie and make modules for them and a 1951 Korea Map. And include the straight-deck Essex-class carriers with appropriate class light cruiser and destroyer (DD) escorts. That would be the F9F-5 (or -2) Panther, the AD-2 (or -4) Skyraider, the F4U-4 Corsair and the HO3S-1 rescue helicopter. Also, include a Commencement Bay-class escort carrier.

that would be awesome

Yes, no news guys. The list of things to do is getting shorter than the list of things completed but I don't think any news about F4U-1d will appear before CE2 is released.

Some news is better than no news Hiro IMHO. Thanks for dropping in. Looking forward to seeing more about the CE too.

as awesome as that film id still prefer to see Nam era Skyraiders like the A1H ( AD6). Korean era SKyraiders are still stuck with HVARs and ww2 bombs, whilst nam era skyraiders can carry more and use Mk80 series plus various Rocket pods.

That being said Korean war era Could use some fleshing out so its not just a Duel between the F86F and Mig15bis.

The Yorktown, CV-5, is an interesting choice and I am very much looking forward to having a straight deck carrier to fly off of in my F4U Corsair but I wonder if y'all know that the Yorktown was sunk long before the -1D Corsair was ever qualified to operate from US Navy carriers? The Enterprise, one of her sister ships, operated Corsairs in a night fighter role later on in the war. Any of the Essex class carriers would be a better choice from a historical accuracy point of view. Having an Essex class carrier already in the game would also provide a platform from which to operate any future developed Korean War carrier based planes such as the AD or F9F Panther. Even a late model CVE would fit the Corsair for both conflicts.

Then it must be CV-10, which was also the Yorktown. Rudel's model picture looks like an Essex class, of which the CV-10 USS Yorktown was

no it does not

it is CV5 ship (sunk long before F4U appeared in service), Essex class looks very different

F-15E | F-14A/B

P-51D | P-47D | Mosquito FB Mk VI |Spitfire | Fw 190D | Fw 190A | Bf 109K |  WWII Assets Pack

Normandy 2 | The Channel | Sinai | Syria | PG | NTTR | South Atlantic

F/A-18 | F-86 | F-16C | A-10C | FC-3 | CA | SC |

I think Enterprise would be the best choice. Enterprise has participated in almost all early war and late war campaign and battles. If you do Essex, then you can't really use it for Battle of Midway, Coral Sea or Santa Cruz.

That is very true however, as long as they are going to build a WWII carrier for the one and only (so far) carrier capable plane in DCS, why not build a model of one that not only operated Corsairs off of it during WWII but also had them aboard during Korea?? I realize that it was the -4, -4B and -5 that flew in Korea but I would take a -1D off an Essex class on a map with P-51's, F-86's and Mig-15's any day. I guess I have an over active imagination! :pilotfly:

....and besides, just like the Essex, the Corsair did not fly during any of the early carrier battles. It wasn't until late '44, early '45 that Corsairs were assigned to her.
