Anyone using VR a person who is easily motion sick?

I'm curious about this. I'm a person who gets motion sick easily it seems. I can't play a first person shooter for more than 5 mins w/o becoming so nauseous I have to lay down. 3rd person can be iffy, but I can play a game like Skyrim just fine, but I tried Fortnite, and it made me sick (camera too close).

So I'm very curious because I know there's plenty of people like me out there...anyone like this tried VR and did it make you sick as well? All this stuff is very exciting, but I'm very hesitant because of this.

You just pretty much described me.

I was very concerned about this when I first got my Rift in Jan 2017. Heck I get sick just ridning in a car, fps games would definitely turn my stomach as well.

I adjusted to the Rift quite nicely, took me a week or two - I started in gradually and took lots of breaks. After a couple of weeks I had got acclimated to it for the most part.

Does not bother me at all now.

What Don said. And eat ginger before trying VR as it really does help.

I get so easily motion sickness. If I'm in a car in a roundabout and I look down for a second to check my phone, I get carsick. It's that bad.

I fly VR without any problems. It took a week or so to get used to but now I never feel anything. A little sometimes if I am tired. I can even fly in a spacegame (Elite Dangerous) without any problems, and there you really move around fast.

Just follow these rules for adjusting to VR and you'll be fine:

Stop as soon as you feel remotely nauseous

Don't start playing again until you feel completely normal

NEVER try to push through - if you do, you can end up associating VR with being sick and you'll never adapt

I wouldn't even bother with ginger/anti-nausea pills (I didn't), just give your body time to adapt.

On the up side getting used to VR may just help your motion sickness situation in general.

I can play FPS games, drive in a car, fly in a real plane without any problems; but I couldn't overcome VR sickness when I tried the O+ for 4 weeks. When I started to feel nauseated when only thinking about flying in VR, I decided to sell the gear.

I'm the same way, I can handle any type of motion except reading when in the passenger seat of a car...and VR made me nauseous just looking at the screens.

I got it a week ago and I've gradually built up some immunity so now I can fly without issue, playing Onward however is still a challenge. 24h Dramamine might have helped a bit as well. lol

So for me it didn't do anything, I can play VR all day, but I still get motion sick in a car if I don't look out the window. They're very different types of motion sickness though - VR is where you can see movement but can't feel it, in a car if I look down it's the opposite, I can feel movement but I can't see it - so I'm guessing the brain deals with the two differently.
