I fully agree, would rather it just be an empty space. That is far closer to being historically correct than a fabricated symbol, as I've seen real 109 paint schemes with no symbols painted on the tail (don't recall seeing empty space on K4's but I can ignore that discrepancy better than a fake symbol). And if for some reason (potential legal issues in this case) you cannot use historically accurate simbology - dont use any at all. It is better than placing something innacurate.
