CrazyGman
So just bought the Viggen today, and while playing around with it using Track IR, I find I can move my head through the canopy glass and bars when looking behind and moving to either side. Basicly looking over the shoulder. Doesn't happen in any other plane I own, and I was surprised I couldn't find a thread on it. Some collision detection issue I'm guessing. Anyone else have this issue?

Reflected
This is with Track IR though. Not with VR. I guess it doesn't really matter. The canopy doesn't limit the virtual head's movement, regardless the device you use, or the plane you fly. CrazyGman
Except on the FC3 planes as well as the MiG 21, MiG 15, M2000, and Hornet modules that I own, your head cannot move outside of the canopy. Mule
Just suspend a bin or bathtub or something above you and then keep your wobbly head in that space. Simple really. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
CrazyGman
I'm just wondering if anyone with track IR is also having this problem or if it's only on my end?
metzgerov
Naw I use trackIR and Viggen almost exclusively and never had this issue. Must be a setting in TrackIr or something. Are you using custom maps or the default?

Are you using custom maps or the default? I am using a custom setting for Track IR that works both in IL-2 and DCS. It doesn't have issues in any of the other modules I own but looks like it breaks the Viggen
metzgerov
maybe try a default profile and see what happens? Maybe you have too much movement or something....sorry no help here.

51GRIZZLY
Are you using track clip or track clip pro on your trackIR ?
WelshZeCorgi
Same, I use a sensitive custom track ir5 profile so that I can look everywhere while barely turning my head and it clips through HUD, windshield and the Maverick eyepiece.
51GRIZZLY
What i wanted to say that if you use the Track Clip Pro you have to make sure you have it turned the right way around, so that the longest of the 3 IR emitters is placed at the bottom. If it is turned by 90 degrees you will have exactly the behavior you described. Plus be sure to activate the "TrackClipPro" button on the software setup screen. FanOfALF
I have been using TrackIR 5 for a while now, haven't had that issue. Maybe you have to adjust the height of your track receiver or something like that. Regards FanOfALF
River
same here, you can hang your head outside the canopy glass, no trackir issue, works fine with all other modules. is this bug reported?
viper2097
It kinda a great help to be able to look outside the window and back, but however, it is quite urnealistic xD. So please HB, fix it. mrkline
Duplicate of https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=230920 This doesn't have anything to do with one's TrackIR profile or sensitivity. All planes have TrackIR movement constraints (since suddenly stopping the camera doesn't induce vomiting like it does in VR :P ), but the Viggen's lets you stick your head through the canopy. Anyone else have this issue? I had this problem with TrackIR, asked about it on the forum (dont know where the tread is), people said the same thing, that it is for VR and motion sickness and so on. I managed to finally solve it by tweeking the limit values in the Server.lua file in saved games to this: ViewSettings["AJS37"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = default_fighter_player({ CockpitLocalPoint = {4.802242, 0.720387, 0.0}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.15,0.50},y = {-0.35,1.15},z = {-0.22,0.22},roll = 90.000000}}), }, -- Cockpit Chase = { LocalPoint = {0.200000,1.7000,-1.300000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-5.000000}, }, -- Chase Arcade = { LocalPoint = {-27.000000,12.000000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-12.000000}, }, -- Arcade } Be aware that I use the Proper Neck Mod from PeterP with these settings, If you dont it might come out wrong somehow I dont know.
