Briefing Blue Side

Situation:

Welcome to Red Flag, Gentlemen! The Situation is simple. You are representing BLUE COUNTRY, which consists of all territories east of the FEBA. RED COUNTRY, our enemy holds all territories west of the FEBA. We have reliable intelligence that Red Country is preparing an invasion into Blue Country. We cannot let that happen. In the past few days, during your arrivals at Nellis AFB, swedish Viggen and british and german Tornado Squadrons have flown numerous reconnaisance missions in order to predict how and when the invasion will happen. We believe that the enemy, due to its troop gatherings along the FEBA, is preparing an attack today at dusk. To prevent the invasion, however, we will anticipate his moves with a preventive strike and an invasion on our part.

Mission:

Blue Forces will take off at 0730 local hours and assume their marshall and cap stations as taken from your tasking. Study your maps and flight plans carefully, we want to avoid any midair collisions or otherwise mishaps. Upon assuming your stations, command will give your flights the push order to move on targets.

Stage One: Fighters and the Viggens will push north. Once crossing the FEBA the Viggens will swing south and eliminate the SA-3 threats that have absolute priority. At the same time Fighters and strikers will push south, while the strikers will first engage the expeditionary force that is crossing the FEBA close to RACHEL / the FARMS, in order to prevent the enemy of establishing a bridgehead at Rachel. Our forces at Rachel are weak and would likely be overrun more than easily by the enemy. Make sure if you are attacking the convoys of the expeditionary force that you attack the SAM threads first.

During Stage one Fighters from push line SOUTH are to sweep directly west with egress east back through push line south and keep the enemy fighter aircraft busy so that the strikers can operate without harm. Fighter from push line NORTH will escort the Viggens over the FEBA, cross the FEBA WEST and continue with a Fighter Sweep towards the SOUTH with egress EAST through the push line SOUTH. We hope to eliminate a significant portion of the enemy in this first sweep, however we believe the enemy has moved their air assetts closer to the FEBA so expect an appropriate reaction.

We have reports of Hind Helicopters patrolling the FEBA. Engage at will. ROE: FREE all enemy aircraft.

Stage 2: After the initial fighter sweep and after eliminating the sam threats around and at the FEBA, fighters are to establish CAP stations (you will receive orders from command) and provide top cover for the strikers. The Viggens will join the strikers in the main striking tasks. Your targets in stage 2 are the artillery close to the FEBA, the enemy FOB and DEPOT west of Reveille North and the Outpost just east of Reveille Peak. We have intel that General Villainov is on his way to inspect the outpost and the depot in order to further prepare the invasion. We know that he is from the old guard and will rather proceed to his post after the initial sweep than turn back - a stain of cowardness he would never allow himself. This pride shall be his downfall. He could be anywhere between Reveille South, the Outpost and the Depot, we believe that he will try to make the command post at the Depot. We want him, the outpost, the artillery, the depots, the command post and any remaining enemy forces crippled, eliminated or disabled during stage 2. If we achieve our ground strike goals the enemy will be crippled enough to withdraw for now, which will allow us a consolidation of the FEBA until more blue ground assetts arrive to secure the border.

Note: Our goal is not a complete invasion of Red Country. We act in self defense. If you see red units withdrawing YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHASE THEM! Hold your positions and fulfill your tasks as ordered! Study your maps! Know your landmarks! Keep to your flightplan! Hold your assigned Flight Level - unless engaged!

Nellis AFB NOTAMS:

- On mission start, the take off order is as follows. All fighters assigned northern push line take off first. All Fighters take off RW 03L.

- On mission start, the take off order is as follows. Viggens take off first, then A10s, then Harriers. All Strikers take off RW 03R.

- once the mission has started, all take off are to be done from RW 03L while all landings have to be performed on RW 21L. NO EXCEPTIONS!

NO FLY ZONES:

- Do NOT enter the container. If you do enter the container you will be ordered to fly RTB and take a 30 min penalty time. If you fire a weapon in the container you will be disqualified. Note that aggressors are allowed to fly into the container, however once in the container, aggressors have to land at Groom Lake and respawn at their initial base with 10 min delay. Do NOT follow them!

- Do NOT fly over Las Vegas in any kind of way! Do not cross south of the airport. Take note and FOLLOW your ingress and egress routes of Nellis, or you will get disqualified. Not that for strikers all areas west of Nellis are strictly off limits and reserved for fighters only. proceed to Sally elbow directly and follow your flight plan. Fighters note that your route to and off station follows the entire Sally Corridor. Once you take of from Nellis and hit the Nellis Race Track, turn left to Sally Entry/Exit and then assume your flight level and proceed with your flight plan.

- Deviation from your flight level or your assigned flight plan will lead to a disqualification, if not authorized by command prior (or after) pushing. It is paramount that you keep to your assigned routes while on way to or from your station or tasking.

- You can neither take off nor rtb without permission from command

Unfortunately, I have had something come up for Sunday and will not be able to attend. Happy hunting all.

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
