Ci siamo ormai :music_whistling:

Hi Guys,

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for your support during the development of Hawk and getting us to this point.

Cutting to the crux, we are having problems integrating the Starforce copy protection system.

The Hawk was pretty much ready at the beginning of the month with a few tweaks left to do here and there, using our own copy protection system.

However; in the interest of consistency ED asked us to switch to Starforce as it would tie the serial codes into your ED accounts and module manager within DCS itself which for you, the user would be beneficial.

Our expert coders are working with ED relentlessly to get the Starforce problems nailed down so we can release the module to you.

At this point in time I'm not sure if it will be ready for release this weekend and as you know I like to keep you guys informed every step of the way and want to be honest about that.

What I will do however is email those that have pre-purchased the Hawk a download link and serial code for our own protection system version of the pre-release Hawk so you can at least fly it over the weekend.

We'd like to thank you again for your support and understanding and expect an update soon on the Starforce issue.

Thanks,

Chris.

Thought I'd post a new topic for clarity.

Is this the Beta release I have paid for?

No, this is a preview copy whilst we fix the Starforce protection issue.

Is this release complete?

No, some features are not enabled in this release. The main one is communication radios.

Most other features are enabled.

Can I fly this version in multiplayer?

Yes, but the server hosting must have the Hawk files installed on it (does not need to activated though).

Can I fly this version in single player?

Yes absolutely.

Are any missions included?

Yes, there are several quick start missions that will excite and challenge you.

There are also two training missions included; cold start and basic navigation.

Will there be more missions in the future?

Yes absolutely. More training missions, single player missions and multiplayer missions are being built. Some will be in the initial Beta release and some during the Beta period.

Is there a campaign?

No, not yet. We will be building this during Beta based in suggestions and feedback from the community.

Is the combat school included?

No, this is a separate programme that will incorporate some flying on Hawk but is a bigger picture.

Will the training missions help me with the combat school?

Yes, absolutely.

Are the cockpit textures going to improve?

Yes they are, they are being worked on at the moment and during Beta.

Will I lose a key activation when the Beta is released?

No, they are two different copy protection systems.

Can I tie the key from VEAO to my ED account?

Yes I believe you can. I am looking into how to do this and will let you know.

If I bought from ED store can I fly the preview version?

Yes you can. Just enter your key ED provided to you when asked for it.

What do I do with this version when the Beta comes out?

The files will overwrite this version so you should'nt need to do anything apart from enter the key again when asked for it.

If I purchase now will I get my key immediately?

If bought on the ED store, yes you will.

If bought on VEAO store it can take up to 24 hours for PayPal to process so you will receive an email with your key within that time.

If I just want to see what the fuss is all about but don't want to buy the module can I see the cockpit?

Yes if you install the preview files. Without activation you won't be able to use the cockpit functions but you can sit in it.

This will not be possible with the Beta version.

Why not possible with Beta?

That's how Starforce works unfortunately.

If I buy the SFM version can I get EFM later?

Yes, but the upgrade will only be available from our store and proof of SFM purchase will be necessary (key check).

Will it be released on Steam?

Yes, but only the Beta version when it's ready.

Is it out yet?

No, the preview version will be out after 2pm Friday 28 November. We have to test the installer first which is still processing.

Are the skins in the preview version the same in Beta?

Yes, but some new ones will be developed during Beta.

Will you be making the 50th Anniversary Red Arrows paint scheme?

No, due to contract issues.

Will you be making the Red Arrows aerobatic version?

No, due to contract issues.

Can the Hawk do combat?

Yes, it can carry two sidewinders, a gun pod, rockets, bombs and practice bombs.

Is it affective against current modules for DCS?

Yes absolutely. Keep low in the weeds and pop up for surprise attacks.

If my friend doesn't have it installed what will they see over multiplayer?

A SU-27

If they install the files can they see the Hawk?

Yes.

Can I add the Hawk to my MP server?

Yes, just install the files, no need to purchase or activate.

Will the Hawk Core files be included in next ED patch?

Don't know, that's up to ED but we hope so.

Will that affect my installation?

No, it will simply overwrite the files if they have changed.

Can I gift the Hawk to a friend?

Yes, you can purchase as many as you like from VEAO store and send your friend the activation key. Only one activation key per computer though.

You cannot do this on ED store as far as we know as the key is tied to your account.

I hope that answers most questions, if not please post and I'll add it in.

Thanks,

Chris.

Dear VEAO customer,

We would like to thank you for your pre-order of the Hawk for DCS world.

Whilst we work to get the Beta release version working, we would like you to enjoy the preview version of the Hawk.

This is a preview version and not the Beta version due for release soon.

Some features are not implemented yet, textures are not final and this does not represent the final product and some features may change during Beta.

The activation code provided to you by either VEAO or ED will work with the preview version AND the Beta version, you do NOT need two separate keys.

Please refer to the installation and activation instructions found in the QuickStart guide here:

http://www.veaosimulations.co.uk/dcshawk/manuals/DCS_Hawk_QuickStart_Guide.pdf

To find your activation key on the ED store, go to the "My Orders" page under the Personal Section on their website here www.dcs-world.com and then go into the order details for the Hawk and your key will be shown in the "name" box.

Enter that key, or the key provided via Email from VEAO, into the activation box and click OK.

When you spawn into the Hawk within DCS World the product will activate for the first time. If in the cockpit you do not see the warning flags on the dials (if cold start) or none of the cockpit functions work then the product did not activate.

If all is working ok then the product did activate.

Refer to the QuickStart guide activation section for example pictures of this.

Here is the link to the installer file:

http://www.veaosimulations.co.uk/dcshawk/installers/DCSHawk_Preview_1.2.11-20.5-RC8.exe

If you have any problems with installation or activation please refer to the QuickStart guide and then contact support on support@veaosimulations.co.uk

Please read the preview Q&A page if you have any general questions here:

http://veaosimulations.co.uk/dcs-hawk-qa/

Kind Regards

Chris and the Hawk team

Hey Guys,

An update on the Hawk EFM for you.

We took the decision early on to create templates of flight models for our aircraft; single engine prop, dual engine prop, multi engine prop, single engine non afterburning jet, single engine afterburning jet, dual engine...etc

Then each base flight model is tweaked to the specific aircraft. This means we can create the flight model for aircraft a lot quicker than starting fresh for each one.

Our EFM programmer is steaming full speed ahead on the EFM templates and especially the P-40 and Hawk tweaks.

And we have also taken on an additional two people to help our EFM programmer integrate with the base ASM template and specific aircraft systems.

Here is a shortened version of the list of what is currently working in-sim on our base templates.

- Atmosphere modelling/calculations

* dynamic pressure

* mach number ("dynamic speed of sound")

* gamma

* airflows

* heat capacity

- Aerodynamics calculations

* Lift due to alpha (AoA)

* Lift due to flaps

* Lift due to speedbrake

* Lift due to elevator deflection

* Lift due to ground effects

* Drag due to alpha (AoA)

* Drag induced

* Drag due to mach

* Drag due to flaps

* Drag due to gear

* Drag due to speedbrakes

* Drag due to sideslip

* Drag due to evelator deflection

* Side force due to Beta

* Pitch moment due to alpha (AoA)

* Pitch moment due to elevator

* Pitch moment due to pitch rate

* Pitch moment due to alpha rate

* Roll moment due to beta

* Roll moment due to roll rate

* Roll moment due to yaw rate

* Roll moment due to aileron

* Roll moment due to rudder

* Yaw moment due to beta

* Yaw moment due to yaw rate

* Yaw moment due to rudder

* Yaw moment due to aileron

- Jet engine model

* Jet engine model (thermo dynamic simulation)

+ with several aspects even the chemical energy density if different fuel, different ambient atmosphere parameters, etc.

+ thermal efficiency

+ thermal limitations of different materials

+ air flow through the engine

+ fuel flow

+ temperatures and pressures at different engine stages

* Fuel system

+ fuel pumps

+ tanks

As I said earlier this is just a shortened version of the list and we look forward to bringing some videos to you very soon.

Thanks,

Chris.
