We have many very talented mission buildings in the DCS World community, and we’d like to offer some rewards to the most talented of you!

We hope this to be the first of many such mission building contests.

For this contest, the focus will be on missions that take place the DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range map and include any non-World War II aircraft.

Mission should be in English language by default. Any other languages can be used as secondaries.

So, the three winners will be picked by community voting.

  1. First place - three module keys,
  2. Second place - two module keys,
  3. Third place - one module key.

Please post your missions into this thread with short description and images. If mission more then 10 Mb (many sounds or images) to place it to any sharing services and post link here.

Winners will also have their missions placed within DCS World with credits.

The contest will run until 27 February.

P.S.

Please refrain from discussing about missions here, not to clutter up the theme.

Not that I think I'll have the time to participate (much as I'd like to), but a quick question, just the same, in case...

What, if any, are the limitations on using scripts? As much custom made ones by the designer, or those made by others and in the library on the forum?

Who is judging, and how are the top three missions determined - what does 'gameplay' mean? I am making a new mission for this contest - and plan to post it in the forums when it is ready to play/test.

OPERATION NEW VEGAS

27a40b68253921a46257f485d278ab45_zpshihrwt4n.jpg

The country of Ariana has become increasingly unstable in the past year, the dictator Bashar Musharraf held a democratic election which he then rigged to ensure that he would remain in control. The general populace have become unsettled with this and are on the brink of rebellion. The surrounding countries are worried that Bashar may use his massive military force to halt any rebellion. Any attempt for diplomatic relations has failed and according to recent satellite imagery he has started amassing forces along the border of Atropia. A coalition force has been created to deliver a preemptive strike and stop any further aggression from Bashar.

So this is a conversion of a multiplayer mission I mad for the Black Shark Den. It is a realistic representation of a coordinated attack behind enemy lines. Some of the features include

  • The ability to select your role as either a Gazelle pilot or as a Huey CASEVAC pilot.
  • A working Atis radio function
  • Dynamic difficulty (depending on if you get detected or take too long)
  • A custom kneeboard modeled modeled off of real world mission packets
  • and an in depth mission brief

I'm having trouble downloading the files so here is a link to them

And if you are interest in more helicopter mission check out http://www.blacksharkden.com/

Maybe have an overall winner, plus dual second / third prizes for missions with scripts, and for those only using the native ME & triggers ?

It would give the non-scripters some chance of winning something, and so some incentive...

According to personal experience, I can say that the scripts do not give significant advantages to develop. Interesting and challenging mission can be done using the stsndard trigger system of mission editor only.

Will there also be a Mission Building Contest in the Caucasus map as well? I have quite a few with sounds and effects integrated. Would love to share them.

Shouldn't it be a requirement that missions submitted for a contest be created for that contest? I mean that is how most places handle contests like this.

I'm hoping that some of those submitted will be for the WWII aircraft, instead of the usual mega-jets.:unsure:

The rules specifically said no WWII aircraft but there are always helicopters if you don't want to use jets

Operation Sand Viper

Las Vegas is under attack from all sides by Russian armored divisions. The primary locations of these attacks are near Moapa (north eastern AO), Creech AFB (north western AO, Creech AFB is held by the Russians) and Pahrump (western AO).

This is a mission for the blue side with single player slots for A2A, ground attack, SEAD and helicopter missions. Enemy A2A activates only if player chooses A2A slot, enemy SAMs (other than MANPADS) activate only if player chooses Su-25T slot.

9fcec2f862d9271cf787463acc5564de.jpg

Blue task:

Eliminate Russian armored divisions at three AOs. CAS flights are supported by JTAC and AFAC.

North eastern AO: JTAC Axeman, 31 MHz FM, AFAC Enfield 126 MHz AM

North western AO: JTAC Darknight, 32 MHz FM, AFAC Springfield 127 MHz AM

Western AO: JTAC Warrier, 33 MHz FM, AFAC Uzi 128 MHz AM

Three FARPs are being erected (and are almost operational) near the AOs to add helicopter CAS capability to the battle field. Make a FARP operational by sling-loading in supplies (see briefing image for location) from Nellis. Once the cargo has been delivered, the Gazelle flight at the FARP will be unlocked. Also the FARP will be populated with friendly support units and SAMs. One friendly armored group per AO has run out of materiel and needs to be resupplied by helicopter sling load before it can rejoin the battle.  Use F10 menu to get status update on sling load tasks.

One enemy armored group per AO has run out of materiel and is being resupplied by truck convoy before it can rejoin the battle.  Eliminate these truck convoys. Use F10 menu to get status update on the latest truck convoy sightings.

Hueys (and Gazelles) are also tasked with CSAR [use F10 menu to see CSAR list]. Rescue a pilot by flying to its location and land within 100 m. For game-play reasons this completes the rescue, and a new AI fighter plane will spawn.

A heavy transport is in a holding orbit about 100 clicks ESE of Las Vegas (WP 4 for friendly F-15s and Mirages). If you are confident that you can provide escort cover for this plane, use F10 menu to send it to McCarran. Once the transport flight arrives at McCarran, a Patriot site will spawn at McCarran.

Georgian Su-25T flights are to provide SEAD.

AWACS Overlord is on 124 MHz AM

F-15C BFM & ACM Training

f15_cover.jpg

F-15C BFM & ACM Training

The F-15C BFM & ACM Training exercises place you in the cockpit of the F-15C as a novice pilot during combat training in the Nevada Test and Training Ranges.

This is the ultimate way to practice BFM and ACM whilst keeping the scenario as realistic as possible and highly replayable.

Based on real world combat flight training, these missions will allow you to practice air combat using simulated weapons systems in a controlled environment, and will test your ability to identify and engage the enemy in close-quarter dogfights in a number of different setup scenarios.

With your own friendly team mates and instructors assuming the role of the enemy, you get to experience simulated combat as close to the real thing as possible. You choose when and how to start each engagement - repeat as many times as you like in a single exercise, thanks to the use of complex trigger actions.

FEATURES:

Detailed briefing documentation

Custom voice-overs

Many complex triggers, allowing repeatable engagements within each mission

Learn and practice specific maneuvers, detailed within custom mission briefings

[uH-1H] HUM IN DESERT

The bandits-terrorists want to plunge us into chaos, trying to undermine something again. They use hitherto unknown malicious code (let's call it, say, a HUM).

Frankly, we can not be quite sure about who is responsible for current events, whether there are some persons or it is autonomous actions of that HUM.

So, that exactly are known:

  • several suspicious land vehicles are moving towards main AFBs, it is assumed that these vehicles are full of explosives;
  • the vehicles can act autonomously, but nevertheless some directions are required and received from external Source;
  • we need to study those vehicles to find the Source, so you have to stick at a fairly close distance during prosecution to stop them gently;
  • we need to study their systems rather than a pile of charred metal, so you have to use heavy arms only in cases of extreme necessity;
  • the more material we will have for studying, the more accurately we will be able to determine the source location;
  • we almost completely have lost control over some of our long-range SAM systems and we suppose that the Code uses them to send control signals;
  • we can't detect radiation of the Tracking Radar by which we could determine location of the lost SAM system,
  • therefore with high probability, the system operates in silent mode, and will become active when a hostile unit will get into wake-up zone;
  • in addition, we have no direct orders to destroy the Source.

Main goals:

  • PREVENT EXPLOSIONS WITHIN URBAN AREA AND DAMAGING OF AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE ;

  • LOCATE THE SOURCE ;

Basic procedure:

  • TUNE IN > FLY ON > PURSUE AND DETAIN ;

  • USE HEAVY ARMS ONLY IN CASES OF EXTREME NECESSITY ;

  • AVOID GETTING INTO THE WAKE-UP ZONE ;

  • Use F10 radio menu for information about active frequencies and permission request for HEAVY ARMS.

Primary requirements for pilots:

  • Low flights among potential hazards of various obstacles;
  • Good skills of speed and attitude control;

-------------------------

The mission 'HUM IN DESERT' is the updated version of the 'Huey chase'. The chase remains the main part of this mission. But now several suspect vehicles may appear at once and their total number will increase with time. Action takes place in one of three locations. You set location by choosing the appropriate slot during the mission start. If desired, you can add your own locations (I will try to add description how to do that). There are several parameters by means of which you can tune behaviour and difficulty of the game (see attachment).

FM homing is the primary means for early detection of suspicious land vehicles. Almost entire operating frequency range of the AN/ARC-131 FM radio se t can be used (920 channels spaced 50 kHz apart within a frequency range of 30.00 to 75.95 MHz). You don't need to change this range if you use the UH-1H module. There are no other particular relations except the frequency range with UH-1H module in this updated version. So, you can easily replace Huey units by which you want in the Mission Editor and it should not affect work of the mission script.

NAVEX Nevada

Blue COOP: F-15C, M-2000C

F10 All, Labels Optional, 1430 23OCT11, 3 Hour Timeout

NAVEX Nevada 20N2a.miz is submitted. The mission offers a nice navigational exercise flight over central Nevada - with the capability for you to trigger enemy fighters. Designed for single player with a wingman, you navigate the waypoints and explore the range for your entertainment. You have the option to take on pairs of enemy fighters that you choose to engage. Lots of AI planes are in the mission -- don't shoot the civilian aircraft!

Exploring..

attachment.php?attachmentid=157399&stc=1&d=1487302140

The mission is designed for a single player; choose an F-15C or M-2000C. Up to four players for each aircraft can fly in multiplayer mode. Enjoy!

And from the mission designers point of view, NAVEX Nevada uses the WC's Flags scheme for group and unit names and event flags. The mission uses regular event tools from the editor with some scripting. The 5-digit flags are tied to platforms or zones; you can read a flag and know what it represents. Please, take a few minutes to look at the mission structure in the editor. And feel free to edit and host it.

All skill levels are invited to try this mission. Fly under the bridge, of course :pilotfly:
