Vampyr
Does anyone have a list of A-10 serials that were redesignated as OA-10? I'm looking at this aircraft in particular: http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/Fairchild-A-10C-Thunderbolt-II/2111387?qsp=eJxdjTEOwjAMRe/iGaQGJIaOvQAdWBit2GoqColsSxBVvTsmYur29fz8/woxv4w/dquFoQdllJjgAAUFnwr9CoTGY8qWJ8GSmNw6dSG48%2BD6zkJuAR5DFx1pFhuqg/3X3Yv/96sQy09hjW1p8uXggWVsGc4X5zRrWbB1seG8wLZ9AQDlOX8%3D In the photo above from 2011, it's an A-10C. However in this earlier photo it's an OA-10A: http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/Fairchild-OA-10A-Thunderbolt-II/687420?qsp=eJwtjcEKwkAQQ/9lzgpSpWhv9Qf04A8Ms6EurO0yM4Kl9N/drd7ykpAsJNPo%2BPhjzqCODKzypB1lVn4ZdQsphmiu7HEae/E3p9I7N/tDe7qUok3q17lYgR29CLIj/P2bBmiNYLJtDvWjqRJ6/9GxLRii5cTbCpxjonX9Aqk2Mkc%3D Was the aircraft built as an OA-10 and then converted back to A-10 standard? zxrex
A10s were designated as OA10s when assigned to units where their primary job was as a FAC. It was a change in name only with no physical differences, if I recall correctly. Not sure what units were FAC. Sorry no help on ser#s.
Vampyr
I've heard that both the A-10 and OA-10 are the same aircraft, but I've also heard that the OA-10 had some extra sensors and/or different avionics to help with its role as FAC. Is that true? Also, does the OA-10 exist for both A and C variants, or just the A? Edited January 6, 2018 by Vampyr
