1.2.4 & UH-1H - AMAZING!!!!!

$49 is a bit too much :(

Yeah, I was thinking the same. But I decided to buy it just to support the 3rd party developers.

I flew only once so far but it looks nice.

And well... the loading times for a mission in DCS World are a BIG improvement now. No more waiting for about a minute to start - just a few seconds. Great job. :)

I wonder if licensing had anything to do with the price as well...

For sure. Bell definitely had something to do with the price increase. I'm surprised I haven't seen more people pointing this out!

Still, I bought it of course. Got a bit of a soft spot for helicopters. Had a couple of flights in it and it's cool. Probably won't fly it much but it's nice to know that it's there.

Well also they used my voice in the campaign and we all know that doesnt come cheap, no matter how cheap and easy I might seem ;)

The price is governed by how much work it takes.

...which is a silly idea because you can price out a significant portion of your market, which appears to have happened (especially evident in the Russian forums).

Blatant, short term greed as demonstrated here doesn't go down too well with the customer base. It tends to leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

One of the times this type of pricing strategy is appropriate is when selling a niche product to a market segment with high disposable income. This certainly fits a wide portion of our demographic, but I'm pretty certain more sales would have been achieved if $5-10 was shaved off the unit price, more than likely equating to equal revenue.

What I'm trying to say is that although the current strategy provides better control over long-term pricing, I doubt the revenue generated will be that much different. What this likely boils down to is greed vs. customer satisfaction.

You sir have absolutely ZERO idea what you are talking about... So according to you they should put thousands of hours into making an excellent program and then give it away because you want it, right?

Let me guess... You are in your twenties right? A whole generation of "I want it now and I want it for free"

For the rest of us here that actually understand how a company works, and how much work is inviolved making such a module as this, I have ZERO issues paying $49 for it...

It's amazing how many threads get derailed in this forum with people moaning about the price. If you don't want to pay the money...then don't. It's really that simple. But don't come in here whining about not wanting to pay an extra $10.

Just as a frame of reference. Guess how much i paid for the A-10 when it came out....$60. Guess how much i paid for the KA-50 when it came out...$50. This aircraft is no different. It's a high-fidelity model that has taken a lot of hard work to produce.

Thank you, Belsimtek, for your hard work and dedication in recreating one of the most iconic helicopters ever built.

In this case I believe you get what you pay for. Between this and the other modules im sure i will still use the huey at least every so often for years down the road. There is only a small group of people that do this stuff on this level, so that creates demand. Very satisfied.

$50 is out of the question. $40 would have been more reasonable. I imagine there's quite a few lost sales out there as a result of this unfortunate pricing decision.

I disagree, the pricing decision is based on complex mathematical calculations (factoring in profit margins, re-couped costs, licensing etc)...those numbers don't lie I'm afraid, despite what you may think. Have you sen the pricing points for most FSX aircraft that are pretty much a 3D flight model? They're $59-89...this comes with a lot more than just a model.

Anyway we're all in different positions, but $49 is hardly a rip off...simulation flying was never cheap, the value you get with all ED modules for the price is plenty fair IMHO.

I understand we're not all in the same financial boat, a guy over at Star Citizen dropped $30,000 during the crowd funding campaign.

Please, tell me where I said this.

And for the record, I'm not even 20, however I am educated in business studies.

Furthermore, if you wish to play this game, I presume you belong to the generation which screwed the future of mine up?

I appreciate that some of us have different opinions based on different perspectives and experiences. It appears that some of us do not.

Good day.

I'm rather convinced that you will find people having an easier time accepting your opinion as it is if you voice it in a way that isn't demeaning. You don't have to agree with their pricing policy, but calling Belsimtek greedy because they charge what they do is not the way to go.

"I'm not even 20"

I stand by my assessment

Please, cry me a river. If you wish to go into the specifics of our generation gap, I'm more than happy to oblige over PM. I've had a quick chat about this with people in my gaming community, who as I'm sure you're pleased to find out ,range from my age to over 40, and their opinion is the same: too expensive.

I understand, Sobek. Thank-you for pointing that out. You're certainly right in that regard.

besides of the price, the other 'downer' that makes me skip getting this Huyey is of course the dated/aged terrain that doesn't really make that enjoyable low level flight and generally low altitude combat operations with such an helicopter...

maybe i will think again about it the day 'EDGE' will be on the horizon, and that day not only, i will also open up a bottle of champagne

I agree the map is what turns me off the most, but on saying that the price is still a bit steep for a beta. I wish I had seen the P-51D at $9 because I would have bought that. Unfortunately I missed the boat there.

If you can't save up to 49$ in a few months I guess you have to find a cheaper hobby or a better income. Quality always come with a price tag, but no one is forcing you to buy it :)

I said it before and I will say it again. I look at the price tag as investment into the future of Belsimtek and the flight sim community. In the grand scheme of things they are not asking a whole lot for what they deliver compared to some of the other gaming titles on the market. If you are a hardcore simmer, especially for the Huey, and are looking for the experience as close to the real thing as you can get. For the price it's hard to argue against what Belsimtek has delivered and asking for it. Also bear in mind it's still a beta (more to come). Consider the attention to detail as far as physics and modeling for starters. I dont see anything else out there on the market to match this. The EA's, UBI's, Activisions wont invest in this level of detail because they want the quick buck. This is a steal actually and I plan on purchasing tomorrow and may go for 2 licenses and try to get my young nephew into it. :)

The price is governed by how much work it takes. If you don't like it, you can always wait for a sale.

Oh how we all wish for this to be true for all things... the biggest money transactions in this world are made for silly things that are meaningless/useless/harmful. This is the free market... demand and offer controls the price and not the amount of work... I say this without any pride.

I must admit that when I first saw the $49.99 price tag I was thinking it was a little steep as money is really tight for me at the moment.

I put a little aside for the last couple of weeks and purchased today.

After flying around and trying the campaign I can honestly say it is WELL worth the money,

Anybody sitting on the fence with this should go ahead and buy it you certainly won't be disappointed, honestly.

There isn't a huge choice out there for this kind of high fidelity sim,the nature of our hobby dictates paying for quality and for the amount we spend on our rigs and controllers,$49,99 really isn't that much to ask for this IMO,

Well done Belsimtek a very good product indeed,

Cheers,

Mick. :)
