Anyone Selling custom kits[or All-In-One] TM MFD[With LCDS]

Recommended Posts

It's not very technical. You get the TM MFDs, unscrew the MFD frame from the rest, and doublestick it on top of 8" Lilliput monitors. And adjust monitor LUA files. See embedded link.

You can see some closeup pictures of what it looks like. What I did to block out the unused Lilliput monitors was to use a thin tin For Sale sign from Home Depot (a few bucks) and painted it with matte black.

Getting cold up there in 10th Mountain country! :)

I am right handed and found it more convenient to have both MFDs on my left side so I could use my throttle hand to press the MFD buttons. I suggest that you get a simple LCD second screen and paste the MFDs on the LCD screen with blue tac or something similar and then use the monitor config program to place the MFDs in the TM MFDs.

Yeah 43 right now and supposed to be going to 60* then back to 20 lol... All I wanna know is since I have no experience or tools atm, I would do it myself If it was simple enough to plug and play for the most part?

Unscrew a few screws and that's it. Plug in the three USBs, power and that's it. Lilliput 8" (ASIN: B003LS95SG) is what I used. You can go with 7" monitors but you'll have a little gap between the TM MFDs and the screen. So I opted to go with the 8" screens.

It's all plug in play for A10C. The buttons work out of the box and preprogrammed for A10C. For other modules, you have to program it in the game like any other joystick. Or you can use TARGET software the comes with Thurstmaster.

Then change the monitor.lua file that I referenced and bob's your uncle.

Oh, and you need DislplayLink drivers. And be forewarned, the DisplayLink drivers needed for USB monitors do not work with VR/Oculus at the moment. I don't know if that will change.

how to setup the monitor LUA file? See post #2. I embedded a link in my reply with how to setup it up. It's a step by step instruction on the monitor lua side.

166$ for 1 8" screen, 333$ for 2 screens.

333$ for 2 8" screens? Really? I'd rather slit my wrists than pay 166€ for 1 ****ing 8" monitor.

Sometimes it's a real estate problem as well. I don't have room for another monitor. Sure you can go with a cheap large monitor if you have the room.

And it's expensive because it's not a main stream option. There are cheaper Alibaba alternatives, but given the original constraint of *not* doing DIY, I didn't elaborate further.

I used a 22” touch screen monitor with Helios until I went VR last week. Simple setup and all of your buttons and dials can be accessed right there. This also allows you to adjust you main monitor so you are looking outside the aircraft instead of half the screen being taken up by the dashboard (MIP).

15 inch monitor and helios is a really cheap 2nd screen setup.

You can get the full A-10 dials and double tape both MFDs to on top.

This was mine about 5 years ago, the perspective makes the lower screen look as big as the top screen but it isnt. Your lack of tools means you will probably have to have the 15" next to your main screen rather than like a cockpit, but it is still awesome.

I made a simple desk mount to push it onto the desktop and remove when not flying, its very amateur trust me, you can make this with a hand saw, scredriver and drill:

With my speaker setup and 35 inch ultra wide curved monitor, I can't get a secondary. I wish someone made like a Raspberry PI MFCD or something, I might try the Ipad app, but I really wish I had a better alternative.

I ordered this monitor and used double sided tape to attach mfds to it.

Quick and cheap solution that takes up only a small space but works a treat.
