Difference between P-51D-25-NA and P-51D-30-NA?

Just curious, what's the difference?

A brief bout with Google showed nothing of significance.

Weight? Engine power? Fuel Capacity? Gunz 'n' Goodies? :)

What's the difference folks?

Peace

yeah there is a missing antenna on the tail and one panel (IFF) missing in the pit. No weight difference in game though.

The differences are exactly two posts below this.

Gotcha, thanks :)

So, no real difference at all as far as actually flying it goes.

Not really though the update we got is just 3D and textures (well, "just" looking gorgeous :D). An upgrade in Manifold Pressure has been commented but no date yet.

More manifold pressure is always good!! (I used to play with cars a lot)

And yes, the WW2 fighters certainly look very good! Although, I didn't really notice any difference with the Spitfire, which has always looked really cool.

Glad I get to give my new (used) GTX 1080 Ti a thorough workout :)

The community has been asking for a MP correction for a long time. Hopefully with the new variant they will introduce the 150 Octane / MP boost quickly. I can't imagine why they wouldn't.

Because DCS is not Warhunder or other 'so-called' sims, you know them.. ED needs actual data and the FM definitely needs modification, it's not just adding more power = more speed. They have to take into consideration ALL the implication a higher boost will have on the FM..

Wartime Fuel. That would be special.

Anything that will allow the Mustang to perform against the German planes which seem to seriously outperform against the Mustangs in every aspect.

It would be nice too if ED would finally get around to REPAIRING WEP when doing a repair.

The repair fixes everything else including blown engine but never replaces the WEP Wire. So all subsequent flights throttle into full WEP whether we want it or not.

That and when you request repair to fix the overheated gun barrels if you use more than half your ammo. The 50's in extra shotgun mode don't have the same oomph

The Tiger lives!! What got you out of your den?

I just popped in here to see if there was any real point to even trying the 25 (weight...) but no. No point. As for Stangs in general, still no API, damage model upgrades, fuel or weight, G-suit.....

It's pretty flipping obvious... the bias.

....

please do some of your own research before attempting to paint is as nothing more than fantasy wihslist nonsense. Within the ETO the 8th AF did issue higher 150 octane octane fuel to mustangs allowing manifold pressure to be raised to a max of 75HG.

the P51D block 25 would be the ones issued to ETO with higher fuel options and higher manifold pressure settings , and P51D30 for PTO which did not.

Yes 8th Air Force had 150 Grade fuel.

But the 9th Air Force, whom everyone seems to forget, did not. Their Pony units flew at 67" WEP until VE Day.

Yes the 8th had far more Mustang units by D-Day, but the vast majority were B/C variants. Also, the majority - note majority, not exclusively - of the 8th Air Force Mustang mission was Strategic Air Superiority. Now you wanna do 8 hour escort missions to Berlin, then sure, a 72" Mustang is spot-on, but you better find another simulator cos there's no way to simulate that here.

The very nature of the DCS maps we have and the nature of gameplay, single or multiplayer, is very focussed on Tactical Air War; this then plays completely into 9th Air Force remit. Who didn't have 72" Mustangs.

Would it be great to have both? Sure. But the argument is far more nuanced than ETO =150 Grade.

the capability should be in the game, it's historical.

whether it's historical for every single unit or engagement or mission or scenario is up to the player to figure out, but it's unhistorical to not have it in some scenarios and thus it should be added.

and? the F/A18C lot 20 Hornet modeled in dcs only had 10 aircraft produced compared to earlier Lots.

So just becuase its not as common as another variant isnt an excuse. because in the ETO the 8th air force had far more than 10 Mustangs with such settings. and us virtual pilots can choose to use an aircraft like we see fit? so what if it was used mostly for SAC escort? we can use it for A2A combat or for ground pound or whatever other role we wish to use it.

So should we have Ta-152s and 2 ATA K-4s and Ho-229s and Do-335s too? There were 1 or 2 of each of those but they existed so that means ED absolutely has to model them???
