Deferred Shading & Gamma brightens?

CoBlue

Recommended Posts

With Deferred Shading On.

If I lower the Gamma so the trees & terrain looks acceptable, the cockpit textures, FLIR(Av8b) & water becomes very dark. It affects more or less all cockpits, way to dark IMO.

Seems like Gamma isn't synchronized with terrain & cockpit textures & water. It's either to bright terrain & ok cockpit brightness, or vice-versa.

See screen comparison below between 1.5.8 & 2.5.

Anything that can be done about that?

I am using re-shade 3.0 which seems to work very well, settings of Gamma to 1.8 with DS on

Same here (with deferred shading off). Did somebody try to delete the shader cache in Saved Games folder that was mentioned in another thread? I can only try that later in the evening.

Also, VSync doesn't seem to work for me in 2.5 (it did in 2.2) - the FPS goes over 60 on my 60 Hz screen. I did delete the options.lua file, but now I'm considering to remove the entire user folder for the OB.

Looks pretty good. Which AA settings are you using with the DS on?

Thanks. So, you have no framerate issues with using DS together with MSAA 4x at 4K?

Same issue here.....I can make the terrain look good OR the cockpit....not both.

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. I expected the difference in 2.5 to be a little more dramatic. I appreciate the work that went into this. But my terrain textures don't look much different than 1.5 with exception of the trees. I still have that washed out, bluish/green tint. I may have to learn RESHADE.

Same here. Was expecting more dramatic change. I've only seen it through VR though so low res might make it look worse then it is.

This.

I had to move Gamma to 1.3 in VR to make the world look right...but that then makes the cockpit look much too dark. Hoping it will be tweaked soon.

Glad to see many others are having the same issue as me. Look at this thread for more images with Deferred Shading on and off

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200806&goto=newpost

With DS off, the cockpit looks great but terrain and trees are crappy. FLIR also doesn't work as well

With DS on, terrain and FLIR work well but cockpit is too dark and text on my A-10Cs MFCDs is all thick and blotted

It's much better with Global Cockpit Illumination turned on:thumbup:.

But still get dark cockpit in certain angles & FLIR is to dark as well.

Yes, I actually do. Cockpit is too dark, terrain too bright.

Edit: That actually was before I adjusted my gamma values. I think I found a good compromise now, at least in daylight. But then the cockpit is way too dark when it gets darker outside.

Tried flying the F-15C in Nevada to test 2.5 tonight. I found deferred shading still behaving badly as it did in 2.2 in VR.

In the fast start free flight and ramp start but works fine in the Landing Mission!

Harrier seemed to work in Nevada but Water looked awful on the old 1.5 free flight.

I'm using VR Oculus plus 1080ti.

I've only seen it in VR and yes the cockpit of the A10 looks very dark. The terrain looks flat colored until I get in the air. Clouds look fine and trees are alright from the air. On the ground they look messed up.

I may need to delete the options.lua and reboot the game to set everything back up.

global cockpit illumination helps make the cockpit a bit less dark but just so you guys know maybe it needs some tweaking because the text on the MFCDs and on all the A-10C's panels and CDU screen is still very thick and blotted.

*Look specifically at the blotted text in the highlighted areas in the 2nd picture!*
