The Type 24 is the most produced version of the I-16, so there were a few variations.

As far as i know the plane originally had 4x SchKAS 7.62mm.

Later at least a few got 2x SchWAK 20mm.

The Plane was also produced with different engines. Originally the M-62 and later again at least a few with M-63, like the one we have.

Mind you i am not 100% sure about that, i dont have a real good Book on the I-16. (if you know of one that is available, plz tell me)

Anyone else notice that the undercarriage is bugged on multiplayer?

Also, the cockpit doors do not seem to open either. My friend was goofing with it, and I didn't see a thing.

Great job and looking forward to N-153!
What? I haven't seen anything for the 153. And that wouldn't fit in the current scheme of DCS WWII at all.

I d love to buy the plane but without the appropriate pre flight stab trim i dont want to do it. It is way way too inconvenient.

The stab needs to be set for continious flight at ~350-400 kmh with minimum stick forces required to keep the plane horizontal.

I cant believe the plane is released without said feature. Can we have it and is it even appropriate for the plane?

It doesn't have trim, so it won't in DCS either.

It did have "pre flight stab trim" if you believe this.

Real life aircraft was more convenient with the ability to fix trim on ground.

I wonder how complicated it would be to implement this? Thinking in terms of validating the flight model for every setting which is a standard we expect from ED.

I'm sure I'll get this plane eventually ground trim or not but I do think doing this (real life ground trim) is a good idea and worth the developers effort.

I wonder when we can expect the templates, for livery creators. I know quite a few creators that won't mess with it until a paint kit is out.

@Plexus I am super super excited for this aircraft and I really appreciate you guys making it.

I don't have any particular interest in Russian aircraft per se, but I love the inter-war fighters with mono wing and open cockpit and this is a fantastic and beautiful example. Now I will definitely have to add a fan to my motion simulator!

I will admit though, money is tight so I'm holding out for the next DCS sale and hoping to pick it up then. I can hardly restrain myself though, I can feel the wind in my hair and the thrill of aggressive maneuvers in an open cockpit airplane! I'm almost bouncing in my seat just thinking about it! :pilotfly:

  • 2 weeks later...

Recently I was busy with an extremely important thing: shooting at road blockposts with guns. And you know what? I saw no difference between the firepower of P-51 with 6x12.7mm Brownings and I-16 with 4x7.7mm Shkas. In both cases the HP bar of the buildings was melting with nearly the same speed.

And when attacking smaller targets, I-16 appears to be even more effective due to a lot less bullets scatter.

Any thoughts on that?
