FA-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign

simple change F-5E to FA-18C. just a few mouse clicks in Mission Editor can make this with F-5E version. And that is why startup timing and voices are not proper in FA-18C version.

Improvements can be made on the way. I think some more things come into attention like tankers and maybe timing "errors" that can easily be fixed.

 

 

In my opinion not everything must be made from scratch, but some adjustments for the right aircraft can easily be made.

Important thing is there is no improvements now, and setting up tanker is also very easy work.(a few more click added)

And that easy timing errors still no changed and selling now. They just simply changed unit.

 

And actually, even F-5E original version, all the missions are actually same. just simply changed opponent unit. Quite a simple campaign it was!.

Hi, I was trying your nice Campaign, I don't know If it's already known

maybe it's not Campaign related but just DCS kind of bugs (didn't try free flying on Nellis).

 

(beside something already reported as Heatblur affecting HUD and INS/MAP not updating)

 

- Some shadows trouble during ops (on ground and inflight) at Nellis.

 

- Instructor Aircraft seems not burning fuel.

Hey guys, I have a problem with INS in the FAM Flight. Seems like I cant get a proper alignment. all my way points are waaay off the map.

 

Is this a bug?

Yes, it is know.

Try to look at post #49 explaining how to temporary overcome this bug, updating by tacan or waypoint.

Impossible to follow the #2 mission with the NAV/Waypoint bug;

 

Update INS via TCN

 

1. Coordinates of the first waypoint can be used to set own coordinates after INS align completed

a) on HSI page choose wpt 0 using PB12 "up" or PB13 "dn", then press PB14 "WPDSG"

b) on HSI page press PB7 "UPDT", press PB7 "DSG", press PB6 "ACPT"

 

2. In the case the plane has moved since start of the mission: you can use TCN position update after INS align completed

a) TACAN beacon data must be saved in MC

b) turn on the TACAN and set channel and band of the beacon, set T/R mode; you must receive bearing and range

c) on HSI page press PB7 "UPDT", press PB6 "TCN", press PB6 "ACPT"

Quick question - in the fam flight I noticed my range doesn't decrease enroute the various waypoints. Is it supposed to be like that?

i have another question about the alignment ... or the INS ...

 

After starting the F-18 and do the manual alignment all things seems to be good ...

 

The Fight goes on at WP 10 (India?) and i will return to Nellis ...

 

But after WP14 WP0 follows.

 

no WP's 15 and more are available even though the waypoint sequence draw the lines to Nellis.

 

what is wrong ... ?

Quick question about refueling that I can't find anywhere..

 

 

In the third mission, tankers are around to refuel but what commands do I need to implement to refuel in between dogfights without failing or ending the mission?

HSI -> DATA -> WYPT -> SEQUFC -> DEL

I delete waypoint number 1-2-3

Then -> INS

and Insert waypoint number 15-16-17...

I believe it's not a sort of "bug" but the Hornet Mission Computer (at least the model and avionics update we have) can handle a maximum of 15 way-points per Sequence (SEQ1-SEQ2-SEQ3) and the WP 0 is included in this 15.

The maximum way-points data memory is 60.

so i think, the waypoints in this campaign should be reduced to 15 WP's :D

 

no, it is not a problem, because i find Nellis with closed eyes ....

 

The routes way-point are all stored in the Mission Computer memory also with names (with some basic Red For Stryk recovery route).

 

If we want to use the SEQ way-points feature we have two choices:

 

1) do as my prev post deleting some route beginning WPs of the SEQ1 and inserting/adding the remaining WPs;

 

2) Inserting/adding the Returning route WP in the SEQ2 options.

 

anyway that above just for the sake of a "procedure-DDI loving" point of view :D

Some thoughts on future projects ( possibly integrated within this campaign ? ) :

 

1. Any thoughts on integrating an ambush type setup where Blue forces are unexpectedly ambushed by Aggressors to test their response ? Perhaps stage a Blue Force strike package, escorted by Fighters, enroute to a target area when they are unexpectedly bounced by Aggressors to test their response ? Just a thought.

 

2. Strike training / campaign using various A/G weapons / JTAC ops ?

 

3. Carrier based ops implementing the super carrier?

2. Would provide some variation, but do Redforce actually conduct strikes in Redflag? I always thought they didn't.

 

3. I don't see a way to implement the boat on NTTR map unfortunately, would love that but i'd rather fly the real procedures than having a Nimitz Class carrier sitting next to the Hoover dam.
