Default Trying to target infantry

How do I go about taking out infantry with the A-10? I’m trying the first mission CSAR and there are paratroopers trying to reach a downed F16 pilot. I don’t know how to target them. I was trying to find on TGP but I couldn’t see anything. I’ve done all the tutorial lessons through DCS. I’m trying to figure out. I also was trying to do a bomb and there was a circle with sn with an x through it.

Infantry definitely do show up in the tgp, but they are small so you'll have to be close to the right area and zoomed in.

Gun is definitely the best way to deal with infantry. If you have sa on the site just go visual gun run.

Do you have a jtac in the mission?

No it’s just us infantry saying there are enemy troops to the East. Then I fly over and they say the see me and shoot green flares. It’s very hard. The labels are on so trying to hit them hard.

Do you have zoom bound to some axis, button or track ir? Its pretty much essential for visual acquisition?

I think the unit is always to the left of the label, but I haven't used labels much.

If you have enough time, you can use the hud as soi, set spi near the smoke, then slave tgp to that point and look around.

Learning the “how” in the hawg is a daunting task, but also just the tip of the ice berg. Choosing the right tactics and then employing them in realtime is challenging, but skills do accumulate. Consider the red flag training campaign. Invaluable skill building tool.

They shouldn't be hard to hit. Are you doing a “proper” roll in or pop-up technique? Having a steeper dive angle should make it simpler to target (but things will happen faster!).

Rockets are also good infantry killers, not sure if you've got them in that mission.

If you have labels on, you don't really need to use TGP, Mk.I eyeball should be enough.

I believe that the Csar mission is a little bit more difficult because it is a mission that is created with the older version of DCS. With the introduction of the new DCS 2.5 there where more forests and because of that the infantry is spawning in the forest wich makes them very hard to spot.

The flashing X in your hud means that you are probably to low to drop your bomb, there is a possibility the bomb fragmentation will damage your aircraft.

Mapping the first stage trigger is also a must. Just recently re-downloaded A10C first stage trigger is not assigned to a key by default

Drop a CBU on the infantry - problem solved, they will be face down in the dirt after employment.

Cheers,
