"DCS: A-10C Warthog" is a PC simulation of the U.S. premier Close Air Support attack aircraft. This is the second aircraft in the DCS series, following DCS: Black Shark, and raises the bar even higher in the DCS series. You also have the option to play Warthog in "Game" mode for a casual game experience. Fly missions in the Caucuses region of the Black Sea against and with a wide array of air, land and sea forces with new and improved intelligence. Create your own missions and campaigns with the included Mission and Campaign Editors, and fly with and against friends online using the included online game browser.

If anyone has used my FPS Reference Mission from the beta forums, let me give you some updates on the contrast between beta4 and release.

My FPS was topped out at 40 high 28 lowest while looking out the HUD and watching 3 flights (12 birds) of KA-50s approach my aircraft at low altitude. Here are the differences:

*I now get 58 / 32 FPS

*Dust from the helos now shows up and looks great

*Smoke from their exhaust now shows up and looks great

*The formations of KA-50s don't trip over one another.. they formed up quickly and came at me smoothly as they were supposed to in the first place.

*The HDR from the runway lights looks a heck of a lot better

*When I turn around and look at the sun I get no FPS drop

*My canopy reflections look awesome and really immerse me

*I can hear radio chatter

This is all very much worth the wait and ED should be commended on taking the time to develop this product so completely and with such finesse. I hope that the people who bashed ED for taking so long for the next update spend some time to apologize in this thread. They deserve our respect and reverence as they're VERY good at what they do. They've gone above and beyond. I am literally applauding right now.. hold on.. ok there it is. Take a bow ED.

Wow.. just wow.

EDIT: p.s. - I'll be interested to know whether they implemented a new AI engine. The AI is very different from how it was in Beta. It is superb! Also, is that really Samuel L. Jackson narrating the training missions? I'd put that on the cover! :)

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Are you sure about the cpu and 64bit OS requirement? are those minimum reqs? or perhaps are requirements for an "ok" gameplay experience? don't seem either minimum (64bit OS, cpu, etc.) or recommended (lower than DCS:Ka-50?) to me.

Congrats ED and those who can buy it enjoy the flight!

Just got home from out of town... what a treat! Start seeding please!

"Witness mere F-14s taking off from adjacent flight decks, gracefully canting left and right, afterburners flaming, and there’s something that sweeps you away—or at least it does me. And no amount of knowledge of the potential abuses of carrier task forces can affect the depth of that feeling. It simply speaks to another part of me. It doesn’t want recriminations or politics. It just wants to fly.”
