104th Phoenix - Operation Southern Shield - Dynamic PvP Mission

At some point this week we will launch a new version of Southern Shield that has the Red side start at Bandar Abbas.

This way Red can access all CAP aircraft in that region from the start of the mission and will have to focus on defending that area to maintain the CAP presence.

Despite the terrain being incredibly well done the long ranges are proving to much of a turn off for clients, particularly on the Red side.

We hope to have the edited mission available before the weekend for testing.

Would it be possible to add some Su-25A slot at some forward airfields (atleast 1-2) i know its not a very popular aircraft in MP compared to the Su-25T but only having them located at the starter airfields more or less completely removes them as an option since you have to fly 20-40min (atleast) to get to the target where as with the Su-25T you can base closer to the targets ontop of the fact that it can kill more per sortie.

(For example who is gonna take a Su-25A from Kerman or Shiraz when you can take a Su-25T from Lar,Bandar Abbas or Havadarya)

So having some Su-25A slots on the closer airfields would atleast make it a viable option.

Especially when the Su-25A is one of only a few "Iranian" aircraft we have available.

@ Maverick

What is 104th's plan regarding Caucasus and Persian Gulf maps. Will you alternate between them, run both at the same time, or primarily use one map over the other?

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

- Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS.

Fixed Red helicopters not being able to spawn at BANDAR ABBAS.

All Red forces can now start from the airbase.

Added in two additional Iranian fast patrol ships in the Straits of Hormuz.

Huge thanks to OCTUPLEFIRE for the updated mission starting position image featuring Bandar Abbas as a red start point!

Question: for better immersion of this mission, can their be more fighters that belong to the countries on the map? Like for red the max number of planes should be Iranian Mig-29A, F-5E and Su-25A (F-14A in the future), since this is the main country at play here. And the remaining Su-27s, J-11s, Mig-29S, Mirage 2000C etc be in smaller numbers like 4 to 6 to 8 max each?

Similar case for the blue side. Use UAE as the main faction and their Mirage 2000C be in the most numbers, along with maybe a limited number of F-15Cs, A-10A/C, Viggen and export F/A-18s (Australia, Canada etc).

Any and all carrier capable fighters be placed strictly on carriers, the Su-33, Harriers and F/A-18(US Navy only). Maybe some Harriers can be placed on regular bases, ground bases and FARPS alongside Helicopters.

As for the AI, can that also be country and region specific? Like when a certain airbase is captured for instance, the C-17 that gets sent in to deliver the SAM site could be UAE instead of American, or the IL-76 could be Iranian.

Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick:

ED pls gib A-4 and F-4

Southern Shield is BACK!

We have redesigned the mission to take advantage of the newly added airbases and have come up with a more suitable medium scale mission for control of the Straits of Hormuz.

We are now using the following SRS Channels across all missions.

Post #1 and #2 updated with changes and new mission images.

- Updated mission start layout again. Red will now start from KISH ISLAND and LAVAN ISLAND.

- Added Red and Blue carrier aircraft back on to aircraft carriers.

- Added additional KC-130 tankers for Red with TACAN.

- Added additional coastal patrol vessels for Red.

There are ups and downs in the extent of use of SRS but its use is highly encouraged by 104th.

Teamspeak is optional for preflight planning and strategic preflight coordination.

SRS is promoted to be used for all inflight comms from airbase ATC (= uncontrolled traffic coordination) to formation internal comms, Guard, A/A & A/G tactical inflight coordination and AAR coordination.

Its use is even mandatory for carrier ATC (= uncontrolled traffic coordination) and human GCI service.
