"I think I will take down 1.2.16 to save some disk space and besides, I am not playing it anyways."

It depend which will be updated :) To take down 1.2.16 I'll wait to see which install for 2.0

I understand it as it will be it's own installation. Currently as it stands I have 1.2.16 and OB 1.5.1. Now there will be a third install, 2.0.

So only people who had bought Nevada would be able to download and install DCS 2.0 Open Alpha?

The rest who don´t have Nevada purchased must wait until DCS 2.0 Open Beta to have our 1.5 OB updated to 2.0 OB version?

You can download it, but if you dont have a key for Nevada, Nevada wont work.

Which might be an interesting experiment, just to see if you can fly without terrain. ;)

I've already claimed my serial number (Beta A-10 purchaser), but I recall ED saying that Red Flag missions based on NTTR wouldn't be free to those who qualified for the free map. This is fair, but I'm wondering if there's been any more information on when those missions might be available for purchase. I'm guessing they won't be included with the initial map release.

Well i read the news maybe 3 times to figure out this, from my understanding it will work this way. But i have one question: wich version of DCS will be finally updated on 2.0 (i mean the final version) once open alpha is finish?

I also read that DCS World 2.0 is downloadable, but you can only use the NTTR map if you have purchased it.

Where have you read that it will not be able to utilise the Black Sea map? It is a separate installation because it is in Alpha, not because it won't run existing maps.

You should read news section and checkout few posts.

Why the need for a separate, stand-alone build you ask? Because at this time the Nevada map and the Black Sea map use two different evolutions of the terrain engine (T4 for Nevada and T3 for the Black Sea). We are still in the process of converting the Black Sea map to T4 which will allow both maps to co-exist in the same DCS version. In order to release Nevada this month, we needed to create a separate version.

The current release version and Open Beta will stay intact.

Once the Nevada map exits the Alpha stage, it and DCS World 2.0 will be merged into the stable, release version of DCS World or the Open Beta (TBD).

Yes, apologies, there are getting to be a lot of announcements. It is getting very complicated!

Not really. 1.5? T3 terrain engine. 2.0? T4 terrain engine which allows for new maps. Black Sea map doesn't function properly on T4 yet, so to get Nevada out before the end of the month, they will release 2.0 as a separate Alpha install with just that map. Later on, when the Black Sea map has been updated to function properly, it will join NTTR in the 2.0 install.
