[QUOTE=Kev2go;3959657]So why did RAZBAM choose the old school style UFC ( which is basically somewhat akin to whats on the Hornet) as opposed to newer UFCD which appears to be referenced and its operation documented as early as in a 1991 USAF F15E Flight manual?/QUOTE]

"Referenced and its operation documented" verses Deployed to the fleet are two completely different issues...

I can show you references in a KC-135R Air Refueling Manual dated 1991 for the "Wingtip Air Refueling Pods system". It completely describes the system and its operation. The system was never installed on on a KC-135. Eventually the MPRS system was purchased and installed.

Knowing ED I'd say its a safe bet they are producing a specific block of aircraft with specific capabilities that they can find the most open source data for and the Block being produced did not include or had not yet received the UFCD.

The new UFCD isn't referenced in those early manuals. The line drawings in those documents don't fully illustrate the details of the design. I think the confusion stems from the fact that the illustrated display is drawn as a single, square screen, rather than a row of six linear LCDs as seen fitted to actual, older aircraft. The UFCD controls are the same however, whereas the newer system features slightly different knobs and the buttons are now rectangular rather than square.

ED?

I think you mean Razbam

but in any case as klar pointed out the UFCD still has the same function and information presented as UFC and can be easily installed in any Strike eagle.

So Both would be nice, if that really is the only change.

Ahh see that explains it. yeah that was the confusion, especially seeing since both UFC's have the same functionality with their utilization.
