WinterH
I'd take a Yak-52 over a Cessna any day, over any terrain. Yak-52 is an aerobatics capable plane. Not the hottest aerobatics aircraft, but it can still do shows, so it is more down my alley. drPhibes
I went to the airshow here where I am in Canada, and there were a ton of Yak's on display, so I dont think it is that strange to see them flying all over. Seems like a popular plane. According to the FAA registry, there are 139* Yakovlev Yak-52s in the US (there are loads of Romanian Aerostars as well), with 37 in Arizona and the neighbouring states. So it's no C172 population-wise, but not exactly rare either. *) Edit: 225 in total, including the Romanian models. grunf
I have no particular interest in Yak-52, but I always wanted a prop basic trainer, and Yak is just as good as any other. :D So, looking forward to it, it's going to be a first day buy. Dingo_Bob
Nice should be good fun, now they just need to add in a few more and have a progressive training campaign and it would be awesome, so you could start basic training in Yak move up to Tucano then L39C/C101/Hawk then T2 / T38 then finally graduating to a full size fighter / bomber etc.. By that, do you mean that the plane has been designed to the highest standards? Anyway, I'm glad the customer granted permission for public market to ED  The plane with its white and red livery looks awesome. Cannot wait to see screenshots with internal cockpit and gauges. they were able to get permission to release it for DCS. I am wondering if some features were removed for the public market. WildBillKelsoe
I am happy ED are taking the trainer craft approach. I just wish there would be a civil version for it. I assume it might feature GNS430? Anyways, I'd love to get in one as prop crafts are the best trainers and this should have preceded L-39C, etc... at least my opinion. As to armament, sometimes you get bored from the fighting, so I would like to take her out for multiple hops across Georgia. It could be fun too in Nevada even though I dont own it. Scenic flying is always nice in helicopters and turboprops. That way I can get to know an area well. I hope at some point in the future, there would be a Beechcraft Baron or a C172SP. This would cater some of FSX guys and the flight model the flight model the flight model... mmmmmmm!! I also hope civilian crafts can start a niche in DCS. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Atooyi
I really think these trainers are really useful, I've seen many guy who knows how to shoot, how to dog fight, but doesn't know even some of the basics of navigation, I myself would really love to sometimes just flight some of these trainers just to practice some navigation, and with 2 real fighter pilots on my squad, I can simply ask them about any problems I would have. even practicing some VFR flights on this bird would be really lovely especially on new Caucasus map. I've also flown a 172 and had many good times, but the fact is the Yak 52 was designed as a trainer for combat pilots. It was designed to fly much more like a combat jet. Coming from a 172, trust me, the Yak is fun squared. I love flying prop planes. They are much more challenging than jets because of things like torque, p factor, spiraling slipstream, etc. And the prop rotates the "wrong" way on the Yak, so that is something different and interesting.... It always shocks me when people complain about the release of another type of aircraft. I just wish I could fly all of them. 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT

Ferried a 152 half way across North America as one of my first commercial jobs....... with my left food on the left rudder pedal and my right on the copilot's right pedal. That was a roomy cockpit for one. 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT
