funkyfranky
Does that sound accurate as a workaround? Yes, without the diff.luas everything works fine for me as far as I can tell. Edit: But why delete the diff.luas in saved games? ghashpl
Well... I've logged 30 minutes ago and all is good (no "red keybinds" too). I did not do anything. https://msielski.com
thrustvector
done as nine line suggested, but still messed up for me, even when I load old files in from another location it corrupts them to the messed up ones, it seems to be only on the poor old hard done by KA-50, just gets worse for it. ED Team NineLine Posted October 11, 2018 ED Team Share Posted October 11, 2018 Yes, without the diff.luas everything works fine for me as far as I can tell. Edit: But why delete the diff.luas in saved games? You have a choice. Either deleting the ones in Saved Games, or delete the ones in the module individual folders. If you delete the ones in Saved Games, you will be using the new ones supplied by ED and all custom bindings will be gone, and need to be redone. If you delete the ones in the module folders, you should see your custom bindings from previous profiles. I should note that aircraft like the Hornet are Early Access, its always recommended to atleast be prepared for changes to be made to controls, and updates may need to be made. caponi
do you know what work is within the saved game input files ? i have 17 Modules incl.FC3 and 12 Usb Controller !!! That were dozends (may be hundreds) hours of work with that shit :joystick: :megalol: i could say only that the diff.lua should not in the root input sections ... i suggest that this may be a wrong deployment from ED ... otherwise i have a forfiles-script that will delete these files at every update !!! funkyfranky
You have a choice. Either deleting the ones in Saved Games, or delete the ones in the module individual folders. I know. What I meant was that "If you are affected by this, we suggest you delete all *.diff.lua files in the DCS installation (dcs\mods\aircraft\plane\input\joystick) and then all diff.lua files from your Saved Games directory, your profiles should work as expected. reads (or could be read) like one should delete both, i.e. the diff.luas in DCS root and in Saved Games. And that would definetly not be a good idea. thrustvector
I thought it was both? dam this, I now cannot even assign a command to hotas as they are greyed out, I just don't get it, fine make some other control options, but why delete our own ones, that's just not right somewhere long the line
ED Team NineLine Posted October 11, 2018 ED Team Share Posted October 11, 2018 I've adjusted it, but understand that the recommended procedure here is to delete the Saved Games profiles and start from scratch with the preloaded ones being the base. It's not ideal and a lot of work I know, but a needed step to get the controls standardized and streamlined. Does it mean every time ED sees fit to make changes to the supplied diffs, we have to do this all over again? Or is it a one time hassle? It's not ideal and a lot of work I know, but a needed step to get the controls standardized and streamlined. bad way ... :music_whistling: there where default files for the warthog ... but not as a diff file ... the default files would better saved in the download area on the websites from ED so every user has the choice to get a default or not ... i will look further into the future ... have a nice evening :) too much ... thrustvector
question, after sending the files to the bin, but not deleting in case, I put them back, but they are all messed up, like $ROLR2D.8lua and lots of others?
ED Team NineLine Posted October 11, 2018 ED Team Share Posted October 11, 2018 Hey guys, another update. Because of these changes, it is recommended to remove your Saved Games profiles only. This means that you will lose your custom settings, and will need to reset. But its seen as a needed step to move forward. There is no way, short of manually editing the profiles in notepad to save custom profiles. Sorry guys. ED Team NineLine Posted October 11, 2018 ED Team Share Posted October 11, 2018 don't get how its a move forward if it deletes our own saves, adds some maybe but not deleting our own? Previous to this, controls were not very standardized, and therefore it was more difficult for ED to look at any sort of improvements to the control setup stage. This is cleaning up a lot of this, yes it's at the cost of custom settings, but to push forward, it needs to be done. I apologize, as someone that is redoing his bindings every other day and for multiple versions, I know how much work it is. funkyfranky
First, it's not your fault! Hey guys, another update. Because of these changes, it is recommended to remove your Saved Games profiles only. This means that you will lose your custom settings, and will need to reset. But its seen as a needed step to move forward. There is no way, short of manually editing the profiles in notepad to save custom profiles. Sorry guys. Why is it necessary and what will be the benifit for us? If thousands of users have to adjust their settings, which often took them several hours of work per module (= in total a lot of time!), it would at least be nice to have a good reason for doing it again. I apologize, as someone that is redoing his bindings every other day and for multiple versions, I know how much work it is. Providing default profiles for the controllers of course is good. But why load them, when custom profiles are already there? All the problems stem from this behavior and could be remedied with a simple check. So what is the benefit for the customers to do it the way it is now? What happens when the default profile for a controller is changed? Are 3rd party developers forced to provide default profiles, too? @NineLine: Thank you for trying to find the answers to the above questions.
