The first Bf-109K4 was in August of 1944....

Every Bf-109 air-frame, including the G14's that was salvageable after being stricken off charge was turned into a Bf-109G10 which is nothing more than a Bf-109 reworked to Bf-109K4 standards.

Your quibbling over 30 days. We got a late war Mustang with the K14 and tail warning warning radar.

Hopefully we can get G-suits in the USAAF fighters so we can pull an extra G over everyone else....muuu ha ha ha!!! joystick.gif

Check how many K4 planes were built untill the end of 1944. Just over 500. When compared to 2000 of G14.

Yes we have "late mustang" but the fuel grade if from basic P-51D and the whole 8th army airforce was using 150octane fuel. We mostly fly with:

352nd fighter group they used that fuel

367th fighter group skin. Which also used that fuel.

We also are going to have normandy map which is part of their area of operations.

There were plenty of 109K to find in the air, they were not rare by anyone's standard..

In multi plane combat and team tactics these manaouvre advatages of the 109 diminish in importance quickly... So Use this to Your advatage as real P-51D pilots did..

K4 started to appear in 1945 in greater numbers and many times during 1943-44 period German planes outnumbered the escort fighters. That is because fighters even P-51 had to relieve one another at certain stages as bombers fly slowly so USAAF couldn't throw all fighters at once. And Germans had capability to mass their fighters many times outnumbering the escorts by 2:1 and some times even 10:1.

Only in the end of 1944 and in 1945 the allies started to outnumber the Germans in greater numbers. Especially after the failure of operation Bonden Platte. Which crippled Luftwaffe and when Luftwaffe took a break and USAAF fighters were roaming free atacking planes on airfields.

Just for the record P-51 had 9:1 K/D and 11:1 if we count planes that were destroyed on the ground.

The trainbuster campaign to prepare the invasion site was spearheaded by the 9th USAAF. Most of our fights in the game are at low altitude around the tactical environment.

Crump we are flying 8th AF fighter groups. So why 9th? We have 352nd and 367th. That is 8AF

SO is that what you're hoping for in DCS? You need to have a 9:1 K/D ratio for you to enjoy your P-51? ;)

I am still struggling to see your point. The planes are not going to change from what they are now.

@solty

yahwn! Assuming you is right :).

Just come up with significant money and documentation to build a G-6 (forgotssake) and in the meantime develop some tactics to fight with what you have.

All this 'if' and 'when' and 'it has been this way' does lead to:

NOWHERE.

So again where is the point?

Why don´t you try and have fun with what is there?

Because I find fun from well balanced historic matchups. Not from what could happen scenarios. I don't think many players from German side would appricieate fights against P-80C or F8F Bearcat.

I hate to break it to you, but you are NEVER going to have a historically accurate matchup.

Unless you can simulate the shortage of skilled pilots and fuel shortages, and the MANY other factors involved in the "balance" besides just the aircraft, attempts to replicate the scenario are futile.

I am guessing that ED probably doesn't release modules and maps simply to recreate very specific battles. That's the Mission Editor's job to balance those as much as possible. They release aircraft people want to fly, and give them a place to fly them.

Well yeah because during wartime, it is always such well-balanced matchups...

Good GOD, the entire war was a total see-saw back and forth with one side getting a leg up on the oither and then the other side catching up and surpassing..

It was NEVER a "well balanced" match up and technology is here to ensure exactly that... You only make your equipment better to obtain an advantage over your foe..

Just fly the plane and let ED make the planes and let the scenario builders work on the "balance"...
