huppel
Hi, As I'm preparing for the DLC campaign I'm playing the stock campaign and I've made it to mission 10, city river run. Now my problem with this mission is that it is so dark I cannot see where to fly at all, it is just black. The introduction picture shows that there should be some moonlight. Should I use my night vision goggles (feels like cheating) or are my DCS settings off (cannot find a way to influence this, like a gamma setting)? Thanks! ED Team NineLine Posted November 14, 2016 ED Team Share Posted November 14, 2016 Its possible that changes with the graphics engine have made it darker than what it was when the mission was originally done, I will try and check it out tonight. firmek
I flew this mission just recently. It was ok. It is a night mission but it's not soo dark. All of the buildings, ground details, river etc. are clearly visible. The problem can be quite prosaic. Check monitor brightness and contrast as also if gamma is callibrated correctly. huppel
Hi, Thanks for the info! I first made some changes to my monitor, it had a gamma 1,2,3 and off setting and I turned it off. That helped a bit but not enough. Then I adjusted the gamma slider in the NVidea settings and with that I can get it as bright as needed. Now the question is how do I "calibrate" this, what should it look like? I now set it so that I can barely see the water (1.2), guess that is about right. I attached a screenshot to give you an idea (but that might also depend a bit on the settings used to view it I guess :)) Best, Huppel
firmek
Personally I use this page: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/? It's for sure not comparable to using a professional equipment but should be enough if you follow the instructions. Save your settings before playing with them. EDIT: for compression, I've attached a screenshot from the mission when I run it. It's ok for me and if it's too dark for you then probably it's the monitor settings. Also I've attached a modified campaign mission by moving the time 30 minutes later which makes it less dark. Just copy it to ...\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Missions\EN\Campaigns. Note that the update will restore the original one.Mission 10 - City River Run.miz Edited November 15, 2016 by firmek F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. huppel
Hey thanks! Comparing the screenshots I hardly see any difference so my settings must be about right. But with your mission it is even better! ;-) Thanks again! Huppel
