modify the hight / cockpit sit

Could anyone please tell me which file I need to modify, to have a lower sit / view, from the cockpit?

You don't need to edit a file. Go into the cockpit, put in the position you want and save it with rctrl+num0 I believe.

You can also use the switch on the right side of the Cockpit to adjust your seatheight...

There is also a height adjustment switch in the cockpit. Not sure if many are aware or not. Cheers.

On the right side on the wall, Seat height adjustment switch.

But everytime you respawn, you need to adjust again, unlike saving the new view position.

So far, the only way to save the setting, is numpad0

To save a view, use Right Alt and Num 0, not Control.

Everytime when I start the F16, it looks like this

I'm not talking about the height / sit

It's only too much zoom out

I adjust the default view with this procedure:

Customising the Default View:

Deactivate your headtracking software first.

1. Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default.

2. Adjust your view to what you want as the new default but use only these keys in the process:

"Num/ - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Back

"Num2 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Down

"Num* - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Forward

"Num8 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Up

"Num8" Turn Cockpit Camera Up

"Num2" Turn Cockpit Camera Down

"Num/" FOV- aka Zoom-in

"Num*" FOV+ aka Zoom-out

"NumEnter" Default FOV aka Zoom

3. Press RALT+Num0 - your new default view should now be saved.

Test it by changing your view, then pressing Num5 - your view should return to your customised default

I dont like to delete things, its better to rename them, so you can always undo the change.

The view position is stored on the snapviews.lua file, stored at /saved games/dcs/config/view/ ... you only need to rename the file and dcs will create a new one when you try to customize the view again.

I did a backup of the file, started again.

Everything is with LWin instead RAlt ???

I did another test

Deleted the SnapViews file from Saved Games / DCS / Config / View

Started - opened F16C - everything was okay.

Tried again with RAlt + Num0, the SnapViews file was back to the location but the issue with default zoom cockpit came back

It's a strange issue .. my hunch is that it is something related to TrackIR, as my setup doesnt have this issue and the only difference I can see is that I use another headtracking software (Facetracknoir) .. here you can see how it works for me:

I setup my Snapviews with the procedure I described a few posts prior .. no need to manually edit the snapviews.lua file.

But it's weird : after I delete the SnapViews file, everything is working fine

It's a clone of the TrackIR software .. allows me to use a standard webcam instead of TrackIR's pricey sensor :)

When you load in, do you press the keypad 5 (by default key command)? When I fly with a custom view, I always need to recenter the FOV. Try it and see if it gives you the custom view you set prior.

TIR isn't messing with the views, it only moves your head in the set view. As long as you had TIR software off while assigning your view, you will be fine.

I uninstalled - reinstalled TrackIR 5 software, didn't help

The last hope : I could try to modify manually the ( FOV - increase / decrease ) default cockpit zoom

But I'm not sure which settings. Could you please have a look ?

Last two, "default view" or "default view - VR" if you use VR.

I standardize all my aircraft default zoom levels to be the same. (With the viewAngle parameter.)
