What about Air to Ground any news?

Hi All,

This is mainly a General question for 3rd part developers and ED, I was curious to when will we be getting a functional Air to Ground Radar implemented in all the planes like F16, F18, Typhoon (When released).

I ask because with the air to Ground radar makes finding targets easier then with the FLIR alone..

I have been a supporter since Flanker 2.0 and would love to get A-G Radar in the mentioned planes ASAP..

The DCS is a great sim and been happy so far with the F16 and F18. so any news would be good news. I hope it will be coming soon..

thank you

My guess is by the end of this year. ED did say they plan on having the Viper and Hornet out of early access and being future complete by the end of 2020 so with that being said I think my guess is fair enough.

Yeah, just saw that!

Funny thing is that we were told we weren’t getting a super hornet because it’s too modern. Then the the Jf-17 and now this. How do we get an accurate model of a plane which is still largely classified?

You joined 12 years ago.

You know better than to ask this question. You already know the answer. We all know the answer. What's the point of this thread, just to troll?

Well I am not trolling only trying to find out what is going on.. I do not know the answer or I would not have asked are you trolling?? Like they say it never hurts to ask so if you dont know then just say so.. and if you do know maybe you can enlighten me..

JF-17 has really good RBM and SEA implementation

Seeing this was posted in the main area I was going to say we do have it already to try out.

The FJ-17 is fun and the server I play on from time to time has PVP airbase tank battles. Using the G radar was able to find them coming and auto slave the TGP onto them. Then let off a few Laser rockets and cluster glide bombs.

i honestly doubt that hornet and viper will be completed in 2020. each patch hornet gets...nothing. its almost april, 1/4 of year has passed and what we got ?

heavy performance decrease,

velocity vector for targeting pod,

some new bugs with 2.5.6 that were not there in 2.5.5 (escort AI F14 not engaging, infantry too)

all old F18 bugs (inverted ground effect just to name one) are still there

weapons too (agm88 harm still miss of 50 meters for no reason on dedicated servers)

missing features or even ultra simple to fix (like mirrors in correct positions) are still untouched.

sorry but i see no hope.

Some peoples cup is always half empty some are always half full.

Plan is to have the hornet and viper feature complete this year, we are working hard on it.

We will have news about A2G RADAR soon, we are not ready yet to share news.

You will have to continue to be patient as we continue development.

thank you

i'll be patient...but hope you guys fix this stuff soon. especially the new frame rate drop is very disturbing.

Nothing is being ignored, a lot of work is going on, sometimes it is difficult for some people to see the bigger picture and up being constantly negative. Rest assured if a bug or issue is reported it will get dealt with eventually.

Thanks

Ok Sir…but i ask an update……all the people that paid for the f18 or f16 i think that deserve an little update:)

No... they deserve exactly what they paid for, which is early access to a product that is in development with no promised finish date. Regular updates and timetables are not part of the transaction. I’m glad we get them but they are a courtesy from ED. Not deserved based on payment.

And it’s this attitude that emboldens ED to continually release modules with no clear plan (or reason) to actually complete them.

I want all of these things fleshed out and a dynamic campaign for all the modules. I want this product to be the thing we all see that it can be, which is basically the greatest flight sim ever.

But to act like because we aren't at the finalized vision yet that nothing has been done (or near nothing) is insane. In a few short years we've (well, YOU. I've only been here a year or so) seen F-18, F-14, F-16, new WW2 planes, maps, updated A-10, updated Ka-50, and tons of other stuff.

To act like ED is "emboldened" to release things haphazardly simply because people are enjoying these products as they are for now is silly.

Flight simming isn't the only game I play. I play lots of other games and participate in other gaming communities. From my experience over the past year, ED seems to deliver respectable and seriously high quality products on the regular and commits to improving these products to their best possible state.

blah blah they aren't perfect, I shouldn't have to explain that.

For me, I could do without all these little details right now if it meant AI flight model and tactics improved asap and a dynamic campaign released this year lol. I just bought the K-4. I've been flying 109's for 1,000 hours in IL-2 1946, CoD, and BoX. The DCS 109 is just fantastic, but I'm dying for a campaign. If DCS had a real campaign I could just uninstall IL-2.

Anyway, sorta off topic and rambling. But I don't agree with the narrative about ED's lack of quality or professionalism. Seems like a top tier company to me.

You haven't been around long enough. To address everything that has happened in the past couple of years (and earlier) would take longer than I care to write or you would care to read. The short skinny of it, is YES it is emboldening (and anti consumer, which still baffles me how some consumers are so self-hating) them based on what the previous response was about. The previous poster was not talking about "how much they liked the sim for what it is" (currently burning with 2.5.6's release). It was about silencing opposition with the status quo of "iT's Ea BrUh, dOn'T pLaY tHe bEtA" mentality that seeks to stifle the voices who call for a completed product and a reasonable approach to reaching such a state.

As far as them being perfect, I do not expect that of them nor of anyone. I'm as faulty as the next and more than likely well beyond most. I DO expect them to complete the products that I have supported. With the previous Hornet fiasco (read: Hornet devs for Viper rev[enue] ) with a "goal" of the end of this year, the question of HOW they are going to make that happens is continually attacked by the anti-consumer consumer (again, still baffled). To attach this to a decade long set of bugs that are either never addressed or resurface because of the state of the "spaghetti code", it goes to say that those who have been around long enough have seen the dance.

A key factor to what I believe is your difficulty in seeing the issues is the fact that you are WW2 focused. This isn't to belittle your choice in aircraft that peek your interest in aviation, but to speak to your focus not being on the current aircraft peeking the main issues. Combining this with your relatively new arrival to the scene may give you the impression that you have.

Lastly, the very fact that you listed 7 things they have added this year alone (really a year and a half if we're going to talk Hornet) and the fact that the only really complete thing are the pits from aircraft released a decade ago should be a glaring warning. To add to this the JF-17, (soon to be) UH-58, Typhoon, Harrier, and the F-14A/Forrestal, and some "mind blowing new aircraft from ED" have yet to be released/completed, we are looking down the barrel of 18 EA products with no finish date on the horizon for any of them. THIS is an endemic problem associated with the approach using EA for funds that is unsustainable. At some point they will run out of good will and that's what is concerning from a consumer's point of view who has invested heavily in this company.

ED has NEVER even shown us the corners and a couple blue pieces of the sky of that "Big Picture" so yes, it is pretty difficult to "see the big picture" and as the consumer, well, it's not our job to worry about your big picture, just your finished product.
