I haven't tried Rift recording for some time - it started going a bit pear-shaped at some stage, so I stopped.

However, if I can get it working with the Rift S, I'll make some short videos.

Wow - Amazon UK are now out of stock of Rift S! - Guess some were waiting for reports from users and now they have them. I checked earlier today and they were still in stock.

No restock date, either.

I haven't really seen any DCS related reports for the rift S from this community. They are just out of stock because it makes sense to buy this version compared to the original rift.

Great! Very interested indeed. I am also thinking about getting me the Rift S as I am not very sadisfied with the performance of the Pimax. Most interesting would be the sharpness/readability of the Rift S compared to the Pimax. And of course performance. Thanks in advance.

No - but to only look at this forum for reports on a new headset would be narrow minded, I think. Don't really see what this community has to do with what I posted.

Nice that you know that, though - must have some connection to their ordering system?

Oh I thought you meant specifically to users here, waiting for user input but that is not the case. I actually can't wait for someone to report on how it is compared to the Odyssey.

Amazon says my Rift S will be here by 9 PM tomorrow.

As for gpus, I have been running a GTX 1080 and haven't really seen GTX 1080Ti owners post fps much better than what I get with Rift CV1. So rather than get a new gpu that costs a lot but offers maybe 10-15% fps increase (on a system that locks at 45 or 90), I bought a used GTX 1080 Duke from eBay identical to mine for my son for $350 which combined with the Rift S is about the cost of a RTX 2080 / Radeon VII. If gpu prices come down at Christmas, I might go for something newer/better, otherwise I may wait until I build a new PC to get a modern gpu... which hopefully means I will catch a newer/better generation of hardware across the board or get this years best stuff at much lower prices.

The combination of the currency mining rush, price fixing on RAM, and AMD's failure to produce a competitive product at a lower price has combined to really mess up the gpu market. A new GTX 1080 never fell much below $500. It is now an ancient card by past standards and its replacement by performance numbers, the RTX 2070, is at the same or higher price. To get a better card, you have to go to the next price point, about $700 for the RTX 2080/Radeon VII. The GTX 1080 Ti demand is still high, so the new cards still in stock cost more than the RTX 2080 and the used ones still cost more than the RTX 2070. The RTX 2080 Ti at $1,200 costs almost as much as I normally spend on a new PC ($1,500). I would much rather build a new PC than blow $1,200 on a gpu that will be obsolete in months.

Tonight Oculus charged my card, and now they say that is in processing for shipping.

Do you know on average how many days (or hours) they need for complete the preparations and ship?

I hope they can ship today

Interesting that the Oculus Store isn’t the fastest way. I ordered on Saturday with a online store in Germany, tracking says only 4 more hours until arrival
