AJS37 Environmental Light Flickering in DCS World 2 Open Alpha

Oubaas

Recommended Posts

When I fly the Viggen out of Nellis in DCS World 2 Open Alpha 2.1.1.9459 in daylight hours, the environmental light outside the cockpit keeps shifting from extremely bright to normal and back again. This is not the aircraft lights, it's the entire environment, sky and all, frequently shifting level of brightness. It's very disconcerting when flying.

I used the forum search function before posting and couldn't find any reports of similar phenomenon.

None of my other aircraft do this, and I have every other aircraft except the Hawk, the Aviojet, the BF-109, and the FW190.

There is not problem in the 1.5 beta version, just the version 2 open alpha.

If anyone could suggest a remedy it would be much appreciated. If it's something that needs to be fixed in a future update to the aircraft, then I guess patience is the answer.

Aside from that, love the Viggen. Thanks!

I tried the Viggen today after a long break from it. I noticed that if i use the Viggen in DCS 2.2 and activate the Radar the whole monitor is flickering black if i use the green skin of the Viggen and white if i use the silver skin. The flickering ends as soon as i turn the Radar off and starts as soon as i turn the Radar on again. I think it is the same problem as stated by Oubaas.

Here is a little video showing the flickering, hopefully it helps to solve the problem.

You can see the flickering after i activate the radar between 0:18 to 0:47 and 1:04 to 1:15. this flickering is only present in the Viggen after the radar is switched active, sometimes it's worse and sometimes it's a little better.

This is a very odd issue. Perhaps something to do with the tonemapper?

Will try to investigate.

Thank you for looking into it, attached is a screenshot of my in game settings. If you need more info(msconfig or dcs logs?) just let me know. This flickering is only in DCS 2.x present and with enabled Deferred Shading. In 1.5.8 and in 2.2 with Deferred Shading OFF this flickering does not appear.

I have exactly the same problem as unknown writes, when I fly the Viggen in DCS 2.x. Sometimes I also see what Oubaas describes in the first post in this thread.

That's not really a fix... I'm having the same issue. Happens only when the radar is on but its pretty damn annoying.

Also using AMD

How has this problem not been fixed for 3 months??

It would be really nice if this problem would be addressed... I understand waiting till 2.5 but this problem has been around for a long time and it makes the Jet unplayable unless you turn off Deferred Shading. THAT'S NOT OKAY.

Of course It's not like I can even join a server to use the aircraft anyway. 3 out of 4 tries I drop from the Server when trying to even sit in your plane... I love this module when it works but it is all kinds of screwed up atm. I really hope this isn't what we can expect from the F-14.

Bump

I had only little time for testing, will do at the weekend, but it looks like this problem is solved for me in 2.5 open beta!:thumbup::thumbup: Thank you Heatblur and ED! :joystick::D

The answer is that it's not a Heatblur problem, thus we cannot fix it.
