What LCD/Monitor is everybody using?

Recommended Posts

I am considering moving to a 22', 24' or 30' LCD (yeah, I know, a big difference between all of them) and was wondering what everybody was using.

I currently use a 21 inch NEC CRT that is just GREAT, but, the lure of a larger screen at higher resolution than 1600x1200 (I guess the 22' inch would be higher resolution) is too great. hehe

I'm thinking of going with a 30' and slapping a few 4870X2's or dual GTX 280's in there, but if I could get away with a solid performing 24' than I would be quite pleased.

So, when you all are playin', what the heck are you lookin' at!?!?!

Best Buy is running a sale this week on the LG L227WTG-PF for $249.99. It is 22' but is supposed to be a phenomanal (sp?) panel.

I was looking at 24 inch models but I might have to try this LG out. Best Buy's LCD return policy is so stupendously awesome I may jump on this deal.

30" dell 3008WFP with an Nvidia 280.

Currently running in a 1920x1200 window while learning controls and looking at manual. Have tried it at 2560x1600 and it looks really good. Obviously there's an FPS drop at this resolution although I didn't notice a massive drop.

The monitor is exceptional but a bit expensive. No noticeable latency altho the tech specs are roughly 45ms lag. No ghosting noticable either, very little backlight bleed.

The monitor has loads of inputs including a display port. I currently use dual link DVI for the PC, HDMI for a PS3 and VGA for a 360.

I would highly recommend the Dell 2707 (27" 1920x1200) if you can find one. I would NOT recommend the 2709!!!! The 2709 is nowhere near as good as the 2707 although it does have more inputs.

Just a word of warning. I hate SLI/Crossfire, every time I've tried it or seen a setup with it I've noticed stuttering issues when the FPS drops below around 60. Whilst some say they don't notice it the facts seem to speak for themselves (at least when running AFR).

20.1" Formac Gallery 2010 (Mac Cinema Display clone). 1600x1200. Pin-sharp, sRGB corrected, with no weirdness with viewing angle. £400 ($800) approx. at the time I bought it 2 years ago.

It really is as good as they claim, in any lighting conditions. I saw it on display in a local store and my jaw hit the floor. It made all the other displays look crap (no exaggeration!) except for the Mac displays it was sat next to. WOW is all I can say... Needless to say I got out my CC and bought one, I was that impressed (and I'd been looking around for a decent one for a while).

Contrast is like no other I've seen, and black is really black (even when sat in the dark).

Best regards,
