Is DirectPlay safe to enable?

Recommended Posts

I bought an old game on GOG which requires DirectPlay to be enabled.

Can this application cause any issue with DCS or any other game?

Thank you

I'm not sure about it being safe since I don't use it. It's just an old piece of code. I'm pretty sure DCS won't care one way or the other. But you do have to enable it.

Control Panel, Programs (where you go to uninstall programs), On the left you'll see "Turn Windows Features on or off", click on the + next to Legacy components. You'll see DirectPlay there.

Oh, and your game may need to be played in compatibility mode. Find the EXE or shortcut that launches the game, right click, properties, Compatibility tab, Run this program i Compatibility mode for...and use the oldest OS version there. Good luck
