msalama
What makes them important? All maps have omissions like these and I've never thought it makes a difference one way or another. D4n
Very important for the mission that the famous Alpenwolf-server runs on currently. msalama
So you're expecting them to add those places because one mission needs it? The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Dagger71
There is no way anyone's PC would be able to run DCS if every town, village, wadi or Bedouin settlement were included in the PG map. They absolutely had to cut out the vast majority of these areas (would be over 1000s in our PG map alone!) and what we have now is fantastic and a excellent compromise between realistic and actually playable map. Caucasus is also missing hundreds and hundreds of smaller towns. You cannot use google maps which is only a picture, to compare to a DCS map with manually placed objects. You need to have realistic expectations.
D4n
But PCs are smart... they can use LODs and only load the objects into RAM that the player would actually see from his position DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013 DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. draconus
There is no way anyone's PC would be able to run DCS if every town, village, wadi or Bedouin settlement were included in the PG map. No. A single big city contains more objects then all the villages. It's more of a work & time invested vs money return. Btw: what's so funny? The preload radius setting controls exactly that. Northstar98
Yeah it's a shame that there are these omissions and even straight up inaccuracies (seriously even compare the included charts found under 'map' in F10/ME the disparity is really something in some areas. I mean take a look at Poti on the Caucasus map, despite being in the detailed area, it's missing it's port (a major target in the 2008 war), a river, an airfield(!) and even its whole layout. Then again 2.5 Caucasus was just the old map, with a resolution buff, so I'm not really surprised. And I'm afraid Dagger71, the preload radius and LODs do exactly this - rendering objects only at a set distance from the player, you can even see this happening when you look out into the distance with a TGP...
